Barquisimeto, Venezuela.- Venezuelans PG Heissler Guillent (186-PG-86) and SG Edgar Lugo (189-G-82), who belong to Guaros de Lara in Liga Profesional de Baloncesto (LPB), are ready to shine in the Dominican Republic's Liga Nacional (LNB), Guillent as imported player for Leones de Santo Domingo and Lugo as native player coming off the bench for Reales de La Vega.
"I'm very happy about playing for the first time in the league", said Guillent to Latinbasket.com from Santo Domingo. "From what I've been able to see in the past 12 days of preparation, this is a very physical league with a fast pace".
He has been a foreign reinforcement player in the past in Colombia and Mexico. "I hope this experience helps me to improve in my game and continue to grow as a player. We have a very good team. We have three players coming from the Dominican Republic's Senior National Team after the second game of the season. This team won the championship last season and I hope this year we can play the Finals again", said Guillent.
He'll be playing alongside another LPB player, American SF Delonte Holland (201-F-82), who played for Toros de Aragua. Guillent scored 19 points with 6 rebounds and 3 assist in his first game, a defeat against Titanes de Licey, 73-70.
Lugo is more used to playing in the league and hopes to help Reales get to the next level, after winning Division Norte in 2011. "We have great expectations", said Lugo. "We want to overcome what we did last year and get to the Finals. I hope I can help this team both offensively and defensively. The level of competition here is high and is increasing each year. We have imported players in the league such as Evan Brock (204-F-84), Andrew Feeley (206-F/C-83), Larry Ayuso (190-G-77), Terrence Shannon (203-F-79) and my little brother, Heissler Guillent".
He's optimistic about La Vega. "My team is looking good this season, we have improved our weaknesses with the arrival of Andrew Feeley and the presence of Juan Coronado, our franchise player and MVP last year".
He also wants to get better to help Guaros in 2013 back in Venezuela. "I'm working on my weaknesses because I know that next year, expectations will be high in Guaros de Lara. It's not just advancing to the playoffs but trying to win the championship".

In 44 games he averaged remarkable 19.2ppg, 7.6rpg and 1.8apg last season. He helped them to make it to the semifinals. A very good season in his career as he was voted to Latinbasket.com Uruguay LUB All-Imports Team. Among other achievements Pettigrew's college team won Sun Belt Tournament for two years in a row (2008 and 2009). He graduated from Western Kentucky University in 2011 and it will be his second season in pro basketball.

The last (2011) season Cage played at Hoops Club (Division A) in Lebanese league. In 26 games he was fourth best scorer with impressive 22.8ppg and had 3.2rpg, 2.7apg and 1.2spg. Great season indeed as he was voted to PMA Basketball Asia-Basket.com All-Lebanese League Honorable Mention. He is a very experienced player. Cage has played also professionally in Cyprus, Iraq (Duhok), Iran (BEEM), Mexico (Halcones Rojos), Philippines (Global Port), Saudi Arabia (Uhud) and Lebanon (Feytroun).
