Here is the weekly review of the top performing Venezuelan players, who play currently abroad.

Greivis Vasquez
Greivis Vasquez
#1. This week's number one is an international point guard Greivis Vasquez (197-87, agency: Interperformances, college: Maryland, currently plays in NBA), who plays in the NBA. He could not help the New Orleans Hornets (5-14) in their last game. Despite Vasquez's very good performance the New Orleans Hornets were badly defeated 103-87 on the road by the Los Angeles Lakers. He was the second best scorer with 16 points. Vasquez also added 5 rebounds and dished 9 assists in 37 minutes on the court; quite an impressive performance considering it's only his third season in pro basketball. It was Hornets' third consecutive loss in a row. But this is still an early stage of the season and everything may happen. Vasquez has individually a very good year with high stats. He averages: 12.4ppg, 3.7rpg, 8.6apg, 2FGP: 42.6%, 3FGP: 37.3% and FT: 77.8% in the 19 games he played so far. Vasquez is currently a member of the Venezuelan senior national team.

Luis Bethelmy
Luis Bethelmy
#2. Second place goes to an international power forward Luis Bethelmy (200-86, currently plays in Mexico). He led Halcones Rojos to a victory over the 14th-ranked Osos (5-25) 100-89 in the Mexican LNBP (second division) last Thursday. Bethelmy was MVP of the game. He scored 26 points (!!!) and grabbed 9 rebounds. Halcones Rojos de Veracruz (23-7) is placed third in the LNBP. It was his team's third consecutive victory in a row. This season Bethelmy has very high stats. He averages: 16.3ppg, 6.9rpg, 1.2apg, 2FGP: 65.6%(99-151), 3FGP: 43.6% and FT: 68.9%. Bethelmy is in the roster of the Venezuelan senior national team.

John Cox
John Cox
#3. The Venezuelan player who performed third best last week abroad was an international guard John Cox (196-81, college: USF, currently plays in EuroChallenge). He contributed to a 1-point Paris-Levallois' victory against the third-ranked Belfius Mons-Hainaut (2-3) 90-89 in the EuroChallenge on Tuesday night. Cox scored 7 points in 18 minutes. Paris-Levallois (4-1) is placed first in group E. It was his team's third consecutive victory in a row. They will play only one more game in the EuroChallenge Regular Season. And that game will be critical. This year Cox's overall stats are: 7.6ppg, 1.4rpg, 1.8apg, 2FGP: 35.7%, 3FGP: 33.3% and FT: 66.7% in the five games. He is a naturalized American. Cox is also a member of the Venezuelan senior national team. He used to play for Marinos de Anzoategui in Venezuelan league.

Jose Vargas
Jose Vargas

Swingman Jose Vargas (195-82, currently plays in Mexico) contributed to Soles' victory against the league leader Halcones UV Xalapa (26-4) 92-85 in the Mexican LNBP (second division) in Saturday night's game. Vargas recorded a double-double by scoring 11 points and getting 10 rebounds. He also added 3 assists. It was the game of the round between two top 4 ranked teams. Soles de Mexicali (25-5) is placed second in the LNBP. It was his team's fifth consecutive victory in a row. It's Vargas' first season with the team. Vargas has relatively good stats this year: 11.5ppg, 6.3rpg and 3.0apg. He is also Venezuelan national team player.

Michael Carrera
Michael Carrera
#5. This year Carrera has relatively solid stats: 11.5ppg, 6.3rpg and 3.0apg in the eight games. He is a naturalized American. Carrera plays currently for the Venezuelan national team.
