John Cox
Experienced Naturalized American Guard John Cox (194-G-81, agency: Pensack Sports) put on an amazing game in the last round for league's leader Bucaneros and that's him to receive a Usbasket.com Player of the Week award for round 2.
The 35-year old guard had the game-high 24 points adding four assists for Bucaneros in his team's victory, helping them to edge out Panteras (#5, 0-2), the league's bottom-ranked team 77-75. It allowed Bucaneros to consolidate first place in the Venezuelan LPB. Bucaneros is a typical solid league team placed somewhere in the middle or a little bit lower in the standings. They need more victories to improve their 2-2 record. It's Cox's second year at Bucaneros and it's hard to imagine this team without him. University of San Francisco graduate has very impressive stats this year. Cox is in league's top in points (9th best: 12.0ppg).

The second most remarkable performance in last round's games was 23-year old Dominican Rep. shooting guard Juan Miguel Suero (196-SG-93) of Gaiteros. Suero impressed basketball fans with 28 points, 2 rebounds and 4 assists. Bad luck as Gaiteros lost that game 62-69 to Cocodrilos (4-0). The season is still at the very beginning and this lost game may not be such crucial, of course if they start win the games. Let's wait for the next round. Suero is one of the most experienced players at Gaiteros and has a reputation of one of team's most reliable players. He belongs to the best scorers in the league with 23.0ppg (#1).

The third best performed player last round was American Trey Gilder (206-PF-85) of Panteras (#5). Gilder scored 23 points and passed eleven assists (!!!). Despite Gilder's great performance Panteras lost 75-77 to Bucaneros (#1, 2-2). But his team cannot count on just a single player as he also needs help of the other teammates. Panteras can only dream about fighting for top spots in Eastern Conference. They have awful season losing so far all 2 games. Too bad for Gilder he does not play for a better team. But maybe if he did, his season stats would not be that high. Gilder has individually a great season in Venezuela. After only 2 games, he made it on the list of the league's leaders in points with 19.0ppg (3rd best) and assists with 5.5apg (2nd best).

Other top performing players last week:
4. Luis Julio (201-F/C-80) of Panteras - 17 points, 9 rebounds and 3 assists
5. Jordan Hamilton (201-G/F-90) of Bucaneros - 22 points and 9 rebounds
6. Sani Sakakini (204-C-88) of Trotamundos - 20 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists
7. John Flowers (200-F-89) of Cocodrilos - 17 points, 7 rebounds and 2 assists
8. David Cubillan (181-PG-87) of Trotamundos - 19 points and 10 assists
9. Michael Flores (192-G-85) of Guaiqueries - 25 points and 5 rebounds
10. Maurice Sutton (211-C-89) of Cocodrilos - 19 points and 10 rebounds

The Player of the week is chosen based on efficiency calculation, but also including game result, importance of the game, if played recorded double-double/triple-double, etc.
The efficiency formula is a combination of various formulas used by different basketball organizations/leagues. We got involved many basketball scouts and journalists to assure it's accuracy.
The formula: 1.5*PTS + 3* (REB+AST+ST+BL-TO) - 2*BSAG - 4*PF + 3*PFRV + 4* (2FGPM+3FGPM) + 1.5*FTM - 3* (2FGPA-2FGPM) - 3* (3FGPA-3FGPM) - (FTA-FTM)
