Jose Vargas
Guaros de Lara (LPB) landed experienced 35-year old Venezuelan international swingman Jose Vargas (195-100kg-82, agency: Pro Sports). It is actually his comeback to Barquisimeto as he has played here before in 2015 (Liga Sudamericana) and back in 2003 and 2004, when he was starting his LPB pro career.

He started the season at La Union in Argentinian LigaA. In 35 games he averaged 8.7ppg, 4.4rpg and 1.8apg this season. His agents and representatives of Guaros negotiated his release so he could join Guaros inmediately. He'll come back to Venezuela on Friday and could play his first game against Trotamundos de Carabobo next weekend.

He had been acquired via trade from Marinos de Anzoategui for Windi Graterol (204-C-86, agency: Pro Sports) back in January, but was busy playing in Argentina, so he could not be a part of the team that has been playing in Liga de las Americas. However, he played the same tournament as part of La Union.

Among other achievements his team won Venezuelan LPB Eastern Conference Regular Season in 2016. Vargas received also Latinbasket.com All-South American Championships Honorable Mention award in 2016.

He has been also a member of Venezuelan international program for some years. Vargas has regularly played for Venezuelan senior team since 2006 and previously for U18 National Team in 2000.

He represented Venezuela at the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro (Brazil) last year. His stats at that event were 5 games: 6.4ppg, 3.4rpg, 1.2apg, FGP: 33.3%, 3PT: 20.0%.
Vargas has played previously professionally in Mexico (Soles) and Venezuela (Marinos, Trotamundos, Protectores de Miranda, Yaracuyanos, Estrellas Orientales and Aduaneros, among others).

Vargas' game is described as: A solid swingman with great leaping ability and athletic skills. Plays in the 2 and 3 positions as well. He's very reliable on the court, delivers every game he plays.
