There were just three rounds played in Regular Season of LPB and we can clearly see which teams will fight for top positions and which will try to avoid bottom places. The fans could enjoy quite many interesting games in the last round. The round ended with loss of the undefeated team, derby games and favorites losing the games.

The most crucial game of the last round was a loss of Trotamundos (3-1) in Valencia on Wednesday night. Hosts were defeated by Gaiteros (1-3) 73-65. The guests trailed by 12 points at the halftime before their 43-23 charge in the second half, which allowed them to win the game. Gaiteros outrebounded Trotamundos 39-28 including 29 on the defensive glass. 24 personal fouls committed by Trotamundos helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. It was a good game for Dominican Juan-Miguel Suero (196-93) who led his team to a victory with 27 points and 8 rebounds. American center Julian Vaughn (208-88, college: Georgetown) contributed with 18 points and 8 rebounds for the winners. The former international point guard David Cubillan (181-87, college: Marquette, agency: Pro Sports) answered with 7 points, 5 rebounds and 9 assists for Trotamundos. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Gaiteros are looking forward to face Panteras (#5) in Caracas in the next round. Trotamundos will play on the road against Guaros in Barquisimeto and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
Fifth-ranked Panteras (0-4) used its home court advantage to challenge Cocodrilos (6-0) in Caracas. The visitors managed to secure only one-point victory 80-79. However their fans expected much easier game. It was a great evening for American forward John Flowers (200-89, college: W.Virginia) who led his team to a victory scoring 26 points and 5 rebounds. Maurice Sutton helped adding 17 points and 10 rebounds. Cocodrilos' coach Nestor Salazar allowed to play the deep bench players in such tough game. The best for the losing side was American Trey Gilder (206-85, college: Northwestern St.) with 25 points and 7 rebounds. Cocodrilos will play against Toros (#5) in Maracay in the next round. Panteras will play on the road against Gaiteros in Maracaibo and hope to get finally their first victory.
A very close game took place in Puerto Ordaz (derby !!!) between Gigantes and Marinos. Gigantes (2-0) got a very close home victory over Marinos (0-2). Gigantes managed to escape with a 3-point win 84-81 on Tuesday evening. It was an exceptional evening for Axiers Sucre who led the winners with a double-double by scoring 23 points and 16 rebounds. Juan Herrera came up with 21 points, 5 rebounds and 6 assists for Marinos in the defeat. Both coaches tested many bench players in such tough game. Gigantes will meet Bucaneros in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Marinos will play against Guaiqueries and look forward to get finally their first victory.
A very interesting game took place in Porlamar. It ended with only one-point defeat on the road of Guaros (0-2) to Guaiqueries (2-2) 90-89 in the fight for the third place. There were no big surprises in other games of round 3: winless Toros were beaten by Bucaneros on the road 76-63. Gigantes won against Marinos on its own court 96-85. Bucaneros outscored Toros in La Guaira 89-54. Guaiqueries managed to beat Guaros at home 90-84. Gaiteros were defeated by Trotamundos on the opponent's court 89-76.

Bucaneros - Toros 76-63

No shocking result in a game when Bucaneros (4-2) beat Toros (0-2) in La Guaira 76-63 on Wednesday. They outrebounded Toros 47-30 including 32 on the defensive glass. It was a good game for the former international guard John Cox (194-81, college: USF, agency: Pensack Sports) who led his team to a victory with 23 points. American swingman Jordan Hamilton (201-90, college: Texas) contributed with a double-double by scoring 15 points and 10 rebounds for the winners. Four Bucaneros players scored in double figures. Dominican forward Juan Guerrero (201-93, agency: Basket Management Solutions) answered with 18 points and 7 rebounds and American-Peruvian point guard Kyle Fuller (185-92, college: Vanderbilt) added 19 points in the effort for Toros. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. Bucaneros will face Gigantes in Puerto Ordaz in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Rather expected game when Marinos (0-2) lost to Gigantes (2-0) in Puerto Ordaz 85-96 on Wednesday. Gigantes dominated down low during the game scoring 38 of its points in the paint compared to Marinos' 18 and made 17-of-22 free shots (77.3 percent) during the game. It was a good game for international point guard Harold Cazorla (175-91) who led his team to a victory with 20 points, 7 rebounds and 7 assists. The former international forward Axiers Sucre (199-78) contributed with 17 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners. The former international guard Jesus Centeno (190-85) answered with 20 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists and the former international power forward Hector Romero (202-80, college: New Orleans) added 15 points and 8 rebounds in the effort for Marinos. Another exciting game was a derby match between two local teams from Caracas: Cocodrilos (#1) and Panteras (#5). Panteras were defeated at home 74-85 and even the advantage of their own court did not help. The game was mostly controlled by Cocodrilos. Panteras was better in fourth quarter 22-14. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Cocodrilos forced 21 Panteras turnovers. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Cocodrilos made 7 blocks. It was a good game for American center Maurice Sutton (211-89, college: Villanova) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 14 points, 12 rebounds and 4 blocks. They dominated down low during the game scoring 54 of its points in the paint compared to Toros' 26. They outrebounded Toros 43-27 including a 31-17 advantage in defensive rebounds. It was a good game for American swingman Jordan Hamilton (201-90, college: Texas) who led his team to a victory with 25 points and 4 assists. International center Windi Graterol (204-86, agency: Pro Sports) contributed with a double-double by scoring 12 points and 12 rebounds for the winners.
