The round was rather attractive and full of interesting results. The round ended with defeat of the leader and favorites losing the games.

Top ranked Bucaneros (6-4) recorded its fourth loss in Porlamar on Friday night. Visitors were defeated by third ranked Guaiqueries (4-4) 94-87. The best player for the winners was American forward Marcus Melvin (206-82, college: N.Carolina St.) who had a double-double by scoring 23 points and 13 rebounds. The former international guard Michael Flores (192-85) chipped in 25 points and 6 rebounds. International center Windi Graterol (204-86, agency: Pro Sports) produced 22 points and 8 rebounds (on 9-of-11 shooting from the field) for the guests. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Guaiqueries maintains third place with 4-4 record having seven points less than leader Bucaneros. Bucaneros at the other side still keep top position with four games lost. Guaiqueries are looking forward to face league's leader Cocodrilos in Caracas in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Bucaneros will play at home against the league's second-placed Trotamundos and it may be a tough game between close rivals.

Axiers Sucre responded with a double-double by scoring 30 points and 15 rebounds. Gigantes' coach Curro Segura tested ten players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Defending champion maintains first place with 9-1 record. Loser Gigantes keep the second position with two games lost. Cocodrilos will meet at home Guaiqueries (#3) in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Gigantes will play against Panteras in Caracas and hope to secure a win.

Panteras were crushed by Toros in Maracay 90-71. Panteras smashed Toros at home 103-82. Marinos were destroyed by Trotamundos on the opponent's court 90-62.

We cannot really consider it an upset in the game between close teams in Maracay where 4th placed Panteras (2-6) were crushed by fifth ranked Toros (1-5) 90-71 on Saturday. The best player for the winners was Dominican guard Kelvin Pena (193-80, college: Southeastern CC, agency: Basket Management Solutions) who scored 21 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists. Dominican forward Juan Guerrero (201-93, agency: Basket Management Solutions) chipped in 19 points and 5 rebounds (on 9-of-11 shooting from the field). American guard Kareem Canty (185-93, college: Auburn) produced 13 points and 4 assists and forward Jose Manaure (193-87) added 15 points respectively for the guests. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. Toros maintains fifth place with 1-5 record which they share with defeated Panteras. Loser Panteras dropped to the fifth position with six games lost. Toros will face higher ranked Gaiteros (#3) in Maracaibo in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Panteras will play at home against the league's second-placed Gigantes and hope to win that game.
