There were many interesting games last round. The round ended with defeat of the leader and games ending by tiny margin.

Top ranked Cocodrilos (14-2) recorded its second loss in Caracas on Thursday night. Hosts were defeated by third ranked Guaros (4-6) 92-85. They made 26-of-30 free shots (86.7 percent) during the game, while Cocodrilos only scored eight points from the stripe. Guaros looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. 27 personal fouls committed by Cocodrilos helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. The best player for the winners was American Lazar Hayward (225-86, college: Marquette) who had a double-double by scoring 23 points and 11 rebounds. The former international swingman Jose Vargas (195-82, agency: Pro Sports) chipped in 17 points, 5 rebounds and 7 assists. American center Maurice Sutton (211-89, college: Villanova) produced 19 points, 9 rebounds and 4 blocks for the hosts. Cocodrilos' coach Nestor Salazar rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Defending champion maintains third position with 4-6 record having sixteen points less than leader Bucaneros, which they share with Marinos. Defending champion Cocodrilos still keep top place with two games lost. Guaros is looking forward to face Panteras (#5) in Caracas in the next round. There was no surprise in Caracas where 3rd ranked Guaros (4-6) were defeated by first ranked Cocodrilos (14-2) 89-81 on Friday. Cocodrilos made 19-of-23 free shots (82.6 percent) during the game. The best player for the winners was American point guard Miguel Paul (185-90, college: E.Carolina) who scored 20 points and 4 assists. Jose Rodriguez (197-94) chipped in a double-double by scoring 13 points and 10 rebounds. Not a big story in a game in Maracaibo where 4th ranked Gaiteros (3-7) were outplayed by second ranked Gigantes (8-4) 88-69 on Thursday. The best player for the winners was the former international forward Axiers Sucre (199-78) who had a double-double by scoring 15 points and 17 rebounds. American guard Ricky Tarrant (188-93, college: Memphis) chipped in 23 points. Four Gigantes players scored in double figures. Dominican Juan-Miguel Suero (198-93) produced 24 points, 8 rebounds and 5 assists and the former international forward Hernan Salcedo (198-80) added 6 points and 14 rebounds respectively for the hosts. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. Gigantes maintains second position with 8-4 record having ten points less than leader Bucaneros. Gaiteros lost third consecutive game. They keep the fourth place with seven games lost. Gigantes will face Guaiqueries (#3) in Porlamar in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Gaiteros will play on the road against the league's leader Bucaneros in La Guaira and hope to win that game.
