 | GUG 2008 SANTIAGO CHAMPIONS | |
| | | Gregorio Urbano Gilbert wins championship over Cupes in the finals. They took the best of 7 series in 5 games. This is the second trip in a row for cupes to the championship, but both time felt short. Felipe Lopez was the MVP of the finals. He score 23 in the final game to put cupes out of there misery. Lopez had a good season in Santiago. He put the team that had been struggling for years on his back and led them to the promise land. Congratulations to Gregorio Urbano Gilbert that was there first championship since 1996. |

 | Lidoba 2008 Season | |
| | | Santo Domingo: The Lidobas league is only 2 months away but nothing is said about it. The teams are barely working and the fans are wanting for information as always. One of the sad parts of it is that no publicity has been made about the next season. Teams like Los Indios de San Francisco haven't talked about contracts with their natives or Dominicans abroad yet. The same is true for Los Marineros and Los Reales.
Lidobas is a good league which can be better in the future. But for it to become better the publicity has to be part of the entire league, teams and players. Also, they have to accept the fact that the fans are the base for all professional sports activities. At this time, it seems as if the league doesn't think so. (edited by Jeremy Rubio) |

 | Al Hoford Considered NBA Rookie | |
| | | The Rookie from Puerto Plata, Dominican Republic. Al Horford (208-F/C-86, college: Florida) didnt win the Rookie Of The Year award but is considered by a lot of people the winner. Why is that? Well, he is the first player in a lot of time that scores over 10 points and have almost double figure in rebound. He carried Atlanta to a 7th game vs Boston Celtics. He was the suplement that Atlanta needed. In the other history Kevin Durant didnt offer to much to the Sonics despite he averaged 20 points per game cause Seatle Sonics did not improved into a better team.
In the Atlanta side was different cause since the first day of action, Horford showed that he belonged to the league.
In my case I thought it was the opportunity to us. Dominican Republic to have an NBA Rookie of the year. See you guys. |

 | GAME 2 = 2 OVERTIMES!!!! | |
| | | GAME TWO IN THE SERIE FINAL WAS A BARN BURNER! Both teams came out on FIRE from start to finish in this game that went to TWO OVERTIMES! Stuck at 81-81 at the end of regulation both teams battled to a 99-99 finish the the 1st overtime. Finally GUG emerged the victor but with some extreme caualties as both Winston Munoz (180-G-83) and Felipe Lopez (197-G/F-74, college: St.John's) were ejected from the game and are disqualified form playing in Game 3. Eric Ferguson (186-G-82, agency: Strategic Sports, college: Arkansas) exploded for 41 pts in the absence of his teammates as even Julius Nwosu (207-C-71, agency: Pro Management Agency, college: Liberty) was fouled out of the game. In assistance to Fergusson, Julius Nwosu added 25 pts, Christian Diaz (199-F-82) 19 pts and played GREAT DEFENSE in the 2 overtimes. Felipe Lopez was held ot only 9 pts before his ejection. For CUPES, in a losing effort, Mark McCarroll (208-F/C-80, agency: CAA Sports, college: Pittsburgh) had 24 pts, 10 rebounds and 4 blocked shots. Fausto Alex Sime (192-G-79) had 31 pts and Osvaldo Lopez (189-G/F-83) found his 3 pt shot and notched 4-7 shooting. Darnell Miller (195-G-82, college: W.Georgia) had a double double tonite with 17 pts and 10 rebounds. However this win rests soley on the shoulders of Eric Ferguson (186-G-82, agency: Strategic Sports, college: Arkansas) who hit an array of very difficult shots in the two overtimes sometimes facing 2 or 3 defenders at once. GUG SITS AT 2-0 in the FINAL SERIES with Game 3 this Friday! |

 | IT IS A SERIES NOW!!!! | |
| | | LAST NIGHT CUPES ENSURED THAT THE FINAL SERIES WILL NOT BE ONE SIDED! CUPES used two new refuerzos to defeat GUG last night 87-76 in a very exciting and hotly contested game. Osvaldo Lopez (189-G/F-83) proved to be the key player in this contest as he notched 25 pts on 75 % shooting from the 3pt line. The game also marked the emergence of 2 new stars in the history of Santiago basketball. Jamaal Thomas (202-F-80, college: Angelo St.) & Antoine Broxsie (208-F-79, agency: Court Side, college: Oklahoma St.) (208-F-79, agency: Court Side, college: Oklahoma St.) put their stamp on this game and showed why CUPES has become a legitamate contender for the 2008 CHAMPIONSHIP of Santiago. Thomas who was a star in last seaons LIDOBA with the Marineros of Puerto Plata scored 19 pts ALL IN THE SECOND HALF of the game. The reason was that he had been playing in Puerto Plata with Batey Trey and his release from puerto plata was in transit at the start of the game, which upon arrival caused quite an uproar in the Palacio in Santiago. Antoine Broxsie came up big in this game as well as he scored 11 pts but provided 4 HUGE BLOCKED SHOTS and 17 rebounds including a ferocious dunk over Julius Nwosu to seal the victory in the final minute of play. For GUG, Eric Ferguson (186-G-82, agency: Strategic Sports, college: Arkansas) played another BRILIANT GAME as he pumped in 31 points but did not get much help from his teamates as no one except him was able to score in double figures however Julius Nwosu did contribute 12 rebounds. Not another player even contributed more than 5 rebounds! THE SERIES NOW STANDS AT 2-1 IN FAVOR OF GUG WITH GAME 3 SUNDAY AT 5:30pm! |

 | CUPES vs GUG IN THE FINAL!!! | |
| | | Pueblo Nuevo defeated Cupes last night 87-80 but Pueblo Nuevo needed a 17 pt victory to classify them into the FINAL SERIES. CUPES made it to the FINAL SERIES for the second straight year due to the failure of CPN to capture the points necessary to overtake CUPES in the overall point total scored in tournament play. Eddie Elisma (205-F/C-75, college: Georgia Tech) with 17pts and 9 rebs Shaun Fountain (180-G-78, agency: Duran International, college: Wisc.-Milwaukee) with 34 pts and 4 rebs led them to vctory however he collected his 5th foul with 3 minutes remaining in the game and that proved to be a severe loss to the offense of CPN who had already lost their other leading scorer |
