 | Fajardo Cariduros takes lead against Ponce Lions | |
| | | The Fajardo Cariduros outhustled the Ponce Lions and took the first game of a 2 out of 3 series with a 68-60 win. The Cariduros started the game with a fast pace game and this seems to take Ponce out of their game plan. In the 1st quarter Ponce's import player Matt Freije was called for a technical foul when he complained of a non call by one of the officials, this seemed to frustrate Freije and this could be noticed in his low point production in the game. The 1st quarter finished with the game tied at 18 points. In the 2nd quarter the Cariduros continued to out rebound the Lions who seemed totally out of sync thru out the game. The Lions did manage to take the lead as the half came to an end 31-29. In the 3rd quarter both teams kept pace with each other and the quarter ended tied at 45-45. In the 4th quarter the Lions could not buy a basket as the Cariduros went on an offensive run and Ponce could not stop the bleeding. For Fajardo, Uka Agbai (203-F-81, college: Boston Coll.) scored 23 points followed by Tanoka Beard with 12 points and 13 rebounds. For Ponce Wilfredo Pagan (184-G-76, agency: Next Level) scored 18 points followed by Joel Jones with 13 points. The series continues tonight when Fajardo visits Ponce.
In other BSN action Bayamon has ended the dream for the Humacao Grays, which one night before had made a incredible comeback to eliminate San German from competition, but the Gray's luck also came to an end as the Cowboys beat the Grays 100-91. The Cowboys took the 1st quarter 21-20, but the Grays came back in the 2nd as the half ended 45-44 in favor of the Grays. In the 3rd quarter the Cowboys played a great defense as they went on an offensive run and took a commanding lead to coast the rest of the game for the win.
