Ovals Takes The Double - May 6, 2016


F&G Trading Cuties Ovals Ojays have taken the double in the 2016 Antigua & Barbuda Basketball Association division one league for the second consecutive year, defeating L J Northside Stingerz, 56-55 in a nail biting affair.With a packed crowd of supporters and basketball lovers even the showing of celebrities and politicians such as the Hon. Baldwin Spencer, the Hon. Steadroy 'Cutie' Benjamin and National hero Sir Vivian Richards, Ojays rose to the top in what can only be called a true championship performance.Captain Bryan ' Hollywood' Matthew with 15 points and 10 rebounds led the team in scoring. Stingerz although pushing the series to a game five left it all on the court and their performance for the 2016 season should be commended. Coy Quinland had 17 points and 6 rebounds with skipper Mahijah Davis contributing 13 points and 5 rebounds in a losing effort.The celebration began for the Ovals crew as Kareem 'Macky' Edwards was awarded the Noel 'Nyah' Roberts MVP trophy for the playoffs and the team was presented the playoffs trophy by Janice Sutherland Marketing Manager of Digicel the league's title partner.
