Barbadian team secured a starting win over Antigua at the CBC championship. They now occupied the top spot in Group B. Barbados spurred ahead right from the start and outscored their opponents 19:10 in the first quarter. Barbados widened the lead in the second frame and cleared off to a 37:17 distance at halftime. Antigua just managed to cut the deficit by 4 points in the third quarter. Barbados wisely secured the winning outcome at the end surviving all possible comeback efforts from Antiguan team.
Jamila Griffith (183-G/F-82, college: Md-Eastern Shore) led Barbados with 17 points and 11 rebounds. Shakira Shorey (180-F-84) had 11 points and 14 boards for the winners. Kebra Nanton produced 11 points, 9 rebounds and 5 assists for Antigua. Dalia Clarke and Amanda Edwards scored 9 points apiece in defeat.
