ANT - ABBA appoints Female Basketball Commissioner


The Antigua & Barbuda Basketball Association (ABBA) has launched an initiative, as part of the Antigua/Barbuda National Women's League Programme dubbed 'The Return of the Ladies.' The goal of the programme is to revitalize and rebrand Female Basketball in the State.
As such, the ABBA, last Thursday, February 7, 2013, extended a letter of appointment to Mr. Lucaso Brumant to the role of Commissioner of Women's Basketball in Antigua/Barbuda.According to ABBA, the role of the Commissioner will be to co-opt the assistance of other enthusiastic officials in re-establishing the Antigua/Barbuda Women's Basketball Commission.
Other areas of responsibility will be to manage the logistics involved in running the Women's League, liaise with teams in preparation for the League, assist with acquiring sponsorship and mediate on issues/matters of disciplinary infractions involving players. The Commission is expected to commence the Women's Basketball League in April. Meanwhile, the Commission will select an U-23 team to compete in the 13th Annual Gillian Brazier Basketball Shoot-Out, schedule for June 30-July 7, 2013. So far, Sultan Prospects of Ontario, Canada, Chase Collegiate of Connecticut and Martinique have confirmed their participation.
