Spanish Heat - Slam 80-77 This derby game ended with only three-point defeat on the road of 6th ranked Slam (2-8) to eighth ranked Spanish Heat (1-9) 80-77 on Thursday evening. Spanish Heat forced 27 Slam turnovers. Jesus Reyes orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 34 points (!!!), 10 rebounds and 4 assists. Steven Matthew contributed with 21 points and 4 assists for the winners. Keaddy Martin replied with 17 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists and guard Olivee Morris added 20 points in the effort for Slam. Four Slam players scored in double figures. Slam's coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Newly promoted Spanish Heat maintains eighth position with 1-9 record. It was Slam's sixth loss in a row. Slam at the other side, also newcomer in the league, keeps the sixth place with eight games lost. They share the position with Braves. The winners were led by forward Keroi Lee who had that evening a double-double by scoring 23 points and 13 rebounds and the former international point guard Devorn Benjamin (182-1995) supported him with 14 points, 6 rebounds, 7 assists and 4 steals. Even a double-double of 16 points, 13 rebounds and 9 assists by Warren Bogle did not help to save the game for Ottos. Lincoln Weekes added 31 points and 4 steals for the guests. Potters S. dominated down low during the game scoring 66 of its points in the paint compared to Braves' 34. Potters S. forced 33 Braves turnovers and outrebounded them 61-48 including a 45-26 advantage in defensive rebounds. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 23 assists. Potters S. brought some defensive toughness making 8 blocks. Braves were plagued by 24 personal fouls down the stretch. Worth to mention a quality performance of Welsh point guard Jacob Lloyd (183-1994, college: Harris-Stowe St.) who helped to win the game recording 18 points, 6 rebounds and 9 assists and guard Ariel Quallis who added 15 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists during the contest. Guard Damien Flyod responded with a double-double by scoring 10 points, 13 rebounds and 4 assists and Javon Andrew scored 9 points, 10 rebounds and 4 assists. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Potters S. have an impressive seven-game winning streak. They maintain first position with 9-1 record. Braves at the other side dropped to the sixth place with eight games lost. They share the position with Slam.
