Nicaragua outscored Antigua 79-71 and Barbuda in Managua at the start of the AmeriCup FIBA 2025 Qualifiers. The hosts grabbed a 21-16 lead at the end of the first period and nailed 30 points in the third quarter to win the opener. Jared Ruiz (188-G/F-1992) was unstoppable for the winners with 41 points. Francisco Garth (195-G/F-1999) netted 8, whilst Josmel Martinez (198-F-1999, college: Broward CC) and Jensen Campbell (198-C/F-1998) produced 6 each. Selassie Braithwaite (193-F-1996) replied with 16 in a loss and Kareem Edwards (193-G-1990) delivered 12.
