Joshua Minner claims Antiguan ABBA weekly honour

Experienced American Joshua Minner (198-G-1990) put on an amazing game in the last round for league's second-best LJ Northside Stingerz and that's him to receive a Hoops Agents Player of the Week award for round 7.
The 33-year old guard had a double-double of 31 points and 10 rebounds, while his team edged out Spanish Heat (#6, 0-7), the league's bottom-ranked team 74-73. Stingerz maintains the 2nd position in Antiguan ABBA. They are still close to the very top. Stingerz would have been even better if they kept winning the games like in the last round. They have a solid 7-1 record. In the team's last game Minner had a remarkable 78.6% from 2-point range. He just recently signed at Stingerz, being already a very valuable addition to the team. Mid-America Christian University graduate has very impressive stats this year. Minner is league's best scorer averaging so far 26.5ppg. Minner is in league's top in assists (9th best: 4.0apg) and averages solid 3.3spg and 70.2% FGP.

The second most remarkable performance in last round's games was young Ezekiel Francois (2001) of All Saints Slam. Francois impressed basketball fans with a double-double of 18 points and 20 rebounds. Bad luck as Slam lost that game 63-108 to slightly higher-ranked Potters S. (#3, 6-2). Slam managed to keep the same 5th spot in the standings. 7 lost games are too many comparing to just one victory Slam managed to get this year. Francois is a newcomer at Slam and despite he is not a team leader yet, every game he becomes more reliable player. Hopefully performances like the last one will happen more often.

The third best performed player last round was Steven Matthew (G) of Spanish Heat (#6). Matthew scored 17 points and passed 5 assists. Despite Matthew's great performance the Spanish Heat lost 73-74 to the higher-ranked Stingerz (#2, 7-1). But his team cannot count on just a single player as he also needs help of the other teammates. Spanish Heat can only dream about fighting for top spots in the league. They have awful season losing so far all 7 games. Too bad for Matthew he does not play for a better team. But maybe if he did, his season stats would not be that high. Matthew has individually a great season in Antigua. After only 7 games, he made it on the list of the league's leaders in points with 15.3ppg (3rd best) and assists with 4.1apg (8th best).
