El Talar was crowned champion of Liga Federal-Jul 14, 2024
On a memorable night, El Talar defeated Centenario 72-70 with a decisive shot by Matias Cuello (196-F-1991) in the last second. Federico Glinberg (201-C-1990) was the standout figure with 19 points and 13 rebounds.

El Talar started with overwhelming force, scoring a 13-0 run led by Galo Terrena. The home team was erratic in these first minutes, but managed to recover thanks to the inside play of Nicolás Gimenez and Lucas Cabañas, closing the quarter with a 23-17 in favor of the visitors.

During the second quarter, the game became more chaotic with ball losses on both sides. Centenario, led by its captain Juan Segundo Menna, found order. The defenses were strengthened, and the game became physical. Glinberg dominated under the basket, reinforcing El Talar's defense. While the visitors showed initiative, Centenario depended too much on Menna, making poor decisions. As a result, the visitors went into the long break 33-40 up.

Upon returning to the court, the inside players of both teams took center stage. Giménez, with effectiveness from the perimeter, became a determining factor for Centenario. El Talar, for its part, found its bastion in Glinberg, who not only tied the score but also dominated the paint with crucial rebounds. Despite the inaccuracies typical of a final, a three-pointer by Giménez and outstanding plays by Menna allowed Centenario to take the partial 23-14, closing the quarter 56-54 and leaving everything to be decided in the last ten minutes.

The last quarter arrived and Glinberg continued to shine, bringing El Talar closer on the scoreboard. Terrera tied the game, while Giménez responded with a three-pointer and a double-and-foul play to keep Centenario in the match. Farid Celador, with 10 points in the last quarter, contributed at key moments, leading the home team to a 6-point lead. However, a three-pointer by Lopez Banegas and a score by Glinberg left El Talar just one point away.

Juan Segundo Menna, gets two crucial free throws, which unfortunately he doesn't convert, leaving the ball in the hands of the visitors. Matias Cuello, in a desperate play, took the position and missed his first attempt, but recovered the ball thanks to a mistake by Giménez looking to deflect that rebound. From the three-point line and in an awkward manner, Cuello shot and converted on the buzzer to end the match.

Talar from Buenos Aires won the match 72-70, snatching Centenario's undefeated home record and being crowned champion of Liga Federal in an impressive finale.
