There was no lack of excitement in the last round games. The round ended with change at the leadership position, derby games and favorites losing the games. Here is the last round review presented by ESL.

There was a change at the La Liga leadership position after last games. Round 6 most important game was a defeat of league's leader Instituto (5-3). They were defeated by fourth ranked Libertad Sunchales (3-5) 102-98 on Friday night. Libertad Sunchales made 22-of-26 free shots (84.6 percent) during the game. They shot the lights out from three sinking 14 long-distance shots on high 53.8 percentage. Libertad Sunchales looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. Marcos Saglietti (190-86) scored 27 points to lead the charge for the winners and Martin Cuello (193-93) chipped in 16 points and 4 assists during the contest. Libertad Sunchales' coach Sebastian Saborido used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. The best for the losing side was forward Facundo Pinero (200-88) with 21 points. Libertad Sunchales moved-up to third place, which they share with 6 other teams. Instituto at the other side still keeps top position with three games lost. They share it with 4 other teams. They were replaced at the leadership position by San Lorenzo.
The most crucial game of the last round was another loss of Instituto (5-3) in Cordoba. Hosts were edged by Atenas (5-3) 77-75. It was a key game for the top position in the league. Point guard Franco Baralle (177-99) notched 27 points to lead the effort and Leonardo Lema supported him with 20 points and 8 rebounds. Even 23 points and 5 assists by Italian-Uruguayan guard Leandro Garcia-Morales (186-80, college: Texas A&M, agency: Pro Sports) did not help to save the game for Instituto. Atenas keeps a position of league leader, which they share with 4 other teams including defeated Instituto.

Obras Basket managed to escape with a 1-point win 109-108 on Monday evening. The best player for the winners was Maurice Kemp who had a double-double by scoring 31 points, 10 rebounds and 4 assists. At the other side the best for losing team was Adrian Boccia who recorded 21 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists. Boca Juniors' coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Obras Basket have a solid three-game winning streak. They keep a position of league leader, which they share with 4 other teams. Loser Boca Juniors dropped to the third place with five games lost. They share the position with 6 other teams.
Another interesting game was a derby match between two teams from Buenos Aires: Ferrocarril (#3) and Boca Juniors (#4). Ferrocarril (4-4) won against visiting Boca Juniors (3-5) 68-63. It was a good game for Mariano Fierro who led his team to a victory with 9 points, 10 rebounds and 5 assists. Ferrocarril moved-up to second place, which they share with 4 other teams. Boca Juniors at the other side dropped to the third position with five games lost.
Another interesting game was again a derby between two local teams from Corrientes: Regatas Corrientes (#5) and San Martin Corrientes (#3). Regatas Corrientes (3-5) won against visiting San Martin Corrientes (4-4) 100-87. Marcos Giordano scored 21 points, 7 assists and 4 steals to lead the charge for the winners. Regatas Corrientes' coach Lucas Victoriano used entire bench which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Regatas Corrientes moved-up to third place, which they share with 6 other teams. Loser San Martin Corrientes dropped to the second position with four games lost.

There were no shocking results in the other games in round 6: Ferrocarril lost to San Lorenzo on the opponent's court 84-94. San Martin C. unfortunately lost to Comunicaciones in a home game 69-73. Weber Bahia recorded a loss to Argentino on the road 70-83. La Union was defeated by Comunicaciones on its own court 83-87. Penarol beat Quilmes MP in Mar del Plata 89-83. Olimpico LB destroyed Quimsa at home 89-70.
The most impressive stats of the last round was 26 points and 4 assists by Lucas Ortiz of Quilmes MP.



Obras Basket - Boca Jrs 109-108

A very close game took place in Buenos Aires (derby !!!) between Obras Basket and Boca Juniors. Second ranked Obras Basket (5-3) got a very close home victory over 4th ranked Boca Juniors (3-5). Obras Basket managed to escape with a 1-point win 109-108 on Monday evening. Obras Basket shot 43 for 58 from the free-throw line, while Boca Juniors only scored seventeen points from the stripe. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Obras Basket made 10 blocks. The best player for the winners was American forward Maurice Kemp (203-91, college: E.Carolina, agency: Duran International) who had a double-double by scoring 31 points, 10 rebounds and 4 assists. The other American import power forward Eric Anderson (204-93, college: New Haven, agency: Duran International) chipped in a double-double by scoring 15 points, 19 rebounds and 5 blocks. At the other side the best for losing team was the former international swingman Adrian Boccia (195-82) who recorded 21 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists and swingman Lucas Gargallo (196-95) added 20 points, 8 rebounds and 5 assists respectively. Both teams had five players each who scored in double figures. Boca Juniors' coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Obras Basket have a solid three-game winning streak. They keep a position of league leader, which they share with 4 other teams. Loser Boca Juniors dropped to the third place with five games lost. They share the position with 6 other teams.

They outrebounded Boca Juniors 40-29 including a 16-1 advantage in offensive rebounds. It was a good game for forward Mariano Fierro (200-86) who led his team to a victory with 9 points, 10 rebounds and 5 assists. American guard Desmond Holloway (191-90, college: Co.Carolina) contributed with 18 points and 5 rebounds for the winners. The former international swingman Adrian Boccia (195-82) replied with a double-double by scoring 22 points and 10 rebounds and Cuban center Jasiel Rivero (204-93, agency: Pro Sports) added 11 points in the effort for Boca Juniors. Rather expected game in Almagra where one of their biggest challengers Ferrocarril (4-4) was defeated by first ranked San Lorenzo (7-1) 94-84 on Monday. San Lorenzo made 27-of-30 free shots (90.0 percent) during the game. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. American center Jerome Meyinsse (207-88, college: Virginia, agency: IPZ) scored 29 points and 8 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and the other American import guard Donald Sims (185-87, college: Appalachian St., agency: Pensack Sports) chipped in 16 points and 5 assists during the contest. The best for the losing side was forward Mariano Fierro (200-86) with a double-double by scoring 14 points and 10 rebounds and the former international center Kevin Hernandez (204-91) scored 15 points and 7 rebounds. There was no surprise in Mar del Plata where 4th ranked Quilmes MP (3-5) was defeated by first ranked Penarol (6-2) 89-83 on Saturday. Quilmes MP was plagued by 26 personal fouls down the stretch. Naturalized Italian center Damian Tintorelli (204-81) scored 14 points and 7 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and point guard Joaquin Valinotti (185-98) chipped in 17 points during the contest. Four Penarol players scored in double figures. Penarol's coach Leonardo Gutierrez allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games.
