There were only 2 rounds played so far and it's still very beginning of the Regular Season in La Liga Argentina. The fans could enjoy quite many interesting games in the last round. The round ended with change at the leadership position, favorites losing the games and games ending by tiny margin. Here is the last round review presented by ESL.

First defeat of league's leader CA Platense (3-1) against Parque Sur (1-2) 103-96 was the most important game of the last round. Parque Sur made 21-of-27 free shots (77.8 percent) during the game. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. Swingman Elnes Bolling (193-91) orchestrated the victory by scoring 16 points, 9 rebounds and 7 assists. American power forward Demondre Harvey (201-93, college: La-Monroe) contributed with 21 points and 8 rebounds for the winners. Power forward Alejandro Pappalardi (201-80) replied with a double-double by scoring 21 points and 12 rebounds for CA Platense. CA Platense will play next round against Gimnasia LP trying to make it back to the top of the standings. Parque Sur will try to continue on its current victory against Estudiantes O. in Olavarria.
Ciclista defeated Gimnasia LP in Juninense 90-76. American forward Corbin Jackson (198-92, college: Florida Tech) had a double-double by scoring 29 points and 15 rebounds (on 12-of-15 shooting from the field) to lead the charge for the winners and Maximiliano Rios chipped in 14 points and 6 assists during the contest. Forward Matias Cuello (196-91) responded with 16 points and 6 rebounds. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Gimnasia LP will play next round against strong CA Platense trying to get back on the winning streak. Ciclista will try to continue on its current victory against Rocamora on the road.
The most crucial game of the last round was a loss of Rocamora (2-1) in Juninense on Sunday night. Visitors were edged by Ciclista (3-1) 91-88. Corbin Jackson notched a double-double by scoring 27 points and 16 rebounds (on 11-of-14 shooting from the field) to lead the effort. Even 23 points and 8 rebounds (on 10-of-13 shooting from the field) by Arlando Cook did not help to save the game for Rocamora. Both coaches tested many bench players in such tough game. Ciclista will again meet Rocamora (#5) on the road in the next round. Rocamora will play against La Union in Colon and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
We should not miss a road victory of La Union (2-1) over Parque Sur (1-2) 83-79. The best player for the winners was Trevon Young who had a double-double by scoring 26 points and 15 rebounds. Both coaches allowed to play bench players in such tough game. La Union's next round opponent will be Rocamora (#5) at home. Parque Sur will play against Estudiantes O. in Olavarria and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
Important game to mention about took place in Santiago del Estero. Independiente (2-2) saved a 2-point victory at home edging Obera TC (1-4) 79-77 on Saturday evening. Federico Mansilla orchestrated the victory by scoring 14 points and 6 rebounds. Independiente will face again Obera TC (#6) on the road in the next round.

There were no big surprises in other games of round 2: Independiente lost to undefeated Hindu on the road 54-82. Olimpico Ceres won against Obera TC on its own court 86-81. Obera TC unfortunately lost to Salta Basket in a road game 73-87. Villa San Martin lost to undefeated Hindu at home 74-83. Estudiantes O. crushed Gimnasia LP on the opponent's court 87-68. Winless Chivilcoy Racing was beaten by Rocamora in a home game 72-81. Estudiantes O. was destroyed by Platense on the road 90-64. Rivadavia M. managed to outperform C.Espanol P. on its own court 87-77. Atenas Carmen lost to undefeated Deportivo Viedma in Rio Negro 68-82. Rivadavia M. defeated C.Espanol P. at home 75-61. Winless Petrolero was beaten by Atenas Carmen on the opponent's court 70-65. Deportivo Norte won against Ameghino in a home game 103-86. Barrio Parque outscored Echague on the road 94-75. BHY Tiro Federal managed to beat Deportivo Norte on its own court 84-79. Barrio Parque defeated Union SF in Cordoba 91-84. Sportivo America was beaten by Ameghino at home 79-88. Winless Echague lost to Sportivo America on the opponent's court 62-71. San Isidro managed to outperform Deportivo Norte in a home game 94-79.
The most impressive performance of 2nd round was 24 points and 11 rebounds by Alejandro Zilli of Union SF.



Independiente - Obera TC 79-77

Important game to mention about took place in Santiago del Estero. Independiente (2-2) saved a 2-point victory at home edging Obera TC (1-4) 79-77 on Saturday evening. Independiente made 23-of-30 free shots (76.7 percent) during the game. Obera TC was plagued by 25 personal fouls down the stretch. Guard Federico Mansilla (191-87) orchestrated the victory by scoring 14 points and 6 rebounds. Point guard Damian Palacios (177-85) contributed with 16 points and 4 assists for the winners. Tomas Rossi (202-95) replied with a double-double by scoring 10 points and 11 rebounds and naturalized Italian point guard Lucas Gornatti (188-82) added 14 points and 5 assists in the effort for Obera TC. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Independiente will face again Obera TC (#6) on the road in the next round.

American forward George Valentine (203-88, college: Winthrop, agency: Blacktop Management) contributed with a double-double by scoring 11 points and 10 rebounds for the winners. Five Hindu players scored in double figures. Venezuelan forward Jose Martinez Suarez (196-82) replied with 8 points and 8 rebounds and the former international forward Axel Weigand (202-85) added 8 points and 5 rebounds in the effort for Independiente. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Hindu will face Salta Basket (#4) at home in the next round. Independiente will play against Obera TC and hope to win that game.
