There are only two more rounds left in the Regular Season in La Liga Argentina. The round was rather attractive and full of interesting results. The round ended with favorites losing the games and games ending by tiny margin. Here is the last round review presented by ESL.

The game had a very big importance for second-ranked Rocamora as it allowed them to take a leadership position. Rocamora edged much higher ranked Estudiantes O. at home 72-69. American power forward Arlando Cook (203-95, college: Arkansas) fired a double-double by scoring 13 points and 10 rebounds for the winners. Power forward Luis Paparini (202-89) chipped in 16 points and 7 rebounds. Center Pablo Moya (206-83) produced a double-double by scoring 17 points and 19 rebounds (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field) for lost side. Rocamora have a solid series of four victories in a row. As mentioned above they are at the top of the standings, which they share with Barrio Parque. Estudiantes O. lost third consecutive game. They still keep top place with four games lost. They share the position with Hindu and Union SF. Estudiantes O. will have a break next week, which should allow them to rest in order to get back on the winning path. Rocamora will try to continue on its current victory against seventh ranked La Union in Colon.
Important game to mention about took place in Colon. Seventh ranked La Union (4-6) saved a 2-point victory at home edging much higher ranked Estudiantes O. (7-4) 71-69 on Monday evening. Worth to mention a great performance of forward Franco Benitez (199-95) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 15 points and 11 rebounds. Trevon Young contributed with 11 points and 12 rebounds for the winners. La Union's coach Marcelo Macias allowed to play the deep bench players in such tough game. Forward Santiago Arese (196-87) answered with 17 points and 7 rebounds for Estudiantes O.La Union have a solid series of three victories in a row. They maintain seventh place with 4-6 record. Estudiantes O. lost third consecutive game. They still keep top position with four games lost. They share it with Hindu and Union SF. La Union will play against league's leader Rocamora on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Estudiantes O. will play against the league's leader Rocamora having rather not much hope for a victory.
A very close game took place in Cordoba between Barrio Parque and Ameghino. Second ranked Barrio Parque (8-2) got a very close home victory over 5th ranked Ameghino (5-6). Barrio Parque managed to escape with a 1-point win 74-73 on Friday evening. It was a great evening for Luciano Guerra who led his team to a victory scoring 18 points. At the losing side Juan-Luis Abeiro responded with 20 points and 9 rebounds. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Barrio Parque keeps a position of league leader, which they share with Rocamora. Ameghino at the other side keeps the fifth place with six games lost. They share the position with 3 other teams. Barrio Parque will meet at home Union SF (#3) in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Ameghino will play against Union SF and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
A very interesting game took place in Concepcion de Urug.. It ended with only one-point defeat on the road of 8th ranked Gimnasia LP (2-8) to fifth ranked Parque Sur (5-6) 78-77 on Thursday evening. It was an exceptional evening for Demondre Harvey who led the winners with a double-double by scoring 24 points and 15 rebounds. Both coaches tested many bench players in such tough game. Parque Sur maintains fifth place with 5-6 record, which they share with 3 other teams. Gimnasia LP at the other side keeps the eighth position with eight games lost. Parque Sur's next round opponent will be Ciclista (#6) in Juninense. Gimnasia LP will play on the road against CA Platense in Florida and hope to win that game.
Important game to mention about took place in Parana. Sixth ranked Echague (4-7) saved a 2-point victory at home edging 7th ranked BHY Tiro Federal (4-7) 78-76 in the fight for the sixth place. Pablo Osores fired 18 points and 6 rebounds for the winners. Echague have a solid series of four victories in a row. They maintain sixth place with 4-7 record, which they share with defeated BHY Tiro Federal. BHY Tiro Federal lost fifth consecutive game. Echague will face league's leader Barrio Parque in Cordoba in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory.

Other games of round 7 were very predictable and ended without any surprises. Here they are:
Villa San Martin was crushed by Olimpico Ceres in a road game 85-66. Obera TC was beaten by Salta Basket at home 81-92. Platense lost to Ciclista on the opponent's court 58-71. Independiente unfortunately lost to Villa San Martin in a home game 67-82. Chivilcoy Racing rolled over Gimnasia LP on the road 86-64. La Union was defeated by Ciclista on its own court 65-69. Estudiantes O. was beaten by Parque Sur in Concepcion de Urug. 84-80. C.Espanol P. lost to Rivadavia M. at home 83-87. Progreso Roca unfortunately lost to Atenas Carmen on the opponent's court 75-87. Petrolero recorded a loss to Rivadavia M. in a home game 70-77. Deportivo Viedma defeated Progreso Roca on the road 76-72. Union SF beat San Isidro on its own court 94-83. BHY Tiro Federal lost to Union SF in Santa Fe 65-81. Sportivo America unfortunately lost to San Isidro at home 71-77.
The best stats of 7th round was 23 points, 9 rebounds and 7 assists by Alejandro Zilli of Union SF.



Olimpico Ceres - Villa San Martin 85-66

There was a minor upset in Ceres where 3rd placed Villa San Martin (6-5) was crushed by fifth ranked Olimpico (5-6) 85-66 on Sunday. Olimpico outrebounded Villa San Martin 43-24 including a 32-20 advantage in defensive rebounds. Point guard Milton Vittar (186-91) fired a double-double by scoring 19 points, 10 rebounds and 6 assists for the winners. Guard Matias Martinez (178-94) chipped in 24 points and 7 rebounds. Four Olimpico players scored in double figures. Guard Franco Vieta (190-92) produced 17 points and 4 assists and Agustin Carnovale (195-86) added 10 points and 5 rebounds respectively for lost side. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. Olimpico have a solid series of three victories in a row. Newly promoted Olimpico maintains fifth place with 5-6 record, which they share with 3 other teams. Villa San Martin lost third consecutive game. They keep the third position with five games lost. Olimpico will face higher ranked Independiente (#4) in Santiago del Estero in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Villa San Martin will play at home against Obera TC and hope to win that game.

Swingman Gregorio Eseverri (194-86) chipped in 20 points and 6 rebounds. American power forward Chris Hooper (198-91, college: St.Francis, NY) produced a double-double by scoring 15 points, 12 rebounds and 5 blocks and the other American import guard Tyreek Jewell (188-93, college: St.Francis, NY) added 23 points respectively for lost side. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Salta Basket moved-up to second place. Obera TC lost sixth consecutive game. They keep the sixth position with seven games lost.
