The fans could enjoy quite many interesting games in the last round. The round ended with loss of the undefeated team, derby games, favorites losing the games and games ending by tiny margin. Here is the last round review presented by ESL.

The most surprising game was the first loss of San Lorenzo (11-1) in Bahia Blanca on Friday night. Visitors were defeated by eighteenth ranked Bahia Basket (4-10) 82-78. It ended at the same time the nine-game winning streak of San Lorenzo. Bahia Basket dominated down low during the game scoring 54 of its points in the paint compared to San Lorenzo's 20. Brazilian point guard Caio Pacheco (190-99) orchestrated the victory by scoring 15 points and 4 assists (perfect from the field making all six shots). Swingman Martin Fernandez (193-97) contributed with 14 points for the winners. Bahia Basket's coach Sebastian Ginobili used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. The former international point guard Nicolas Aguirre (188-88) replied with a double-double by scoring 19 points, 10 rebounds and 4 assists for San Lorenzo. Bahia Basket moved-up to seventeenth place. Defending champion San Lorenzo keeps the second position with one game lost. Bahia Basket are looking forward to face higher ranked Quimsa (#7) in Santiado del Estero in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. San Lorenzo will play at home against the league's leader Regatas Corrientes (#1) and will have a slim chance for a victory.
Important game to mention about took place in Sunchales. Fourth ranked Gimnasia (9-5) saved a 3-point victory on the road edging 8th ranked Libertad Sunchales (8-7) 82-79 on Wednesday evening. Dominican center Eloy Vargas (211-88, college: Kentucky, agency: Duran International) had a double-double by scoring 27 points and 12 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and Juan-Manuel Rivero chipped in 14 points during the contest. The former international Erik Thomas (196-95, college: New Orleans) responded with 12 points and 7 rebounds. Despite that victory Gimnasia went down to fifth position due to points difference. Newly promoted Libertad Sunchales keeps the eighth place with seven games lost. They share the position with Boca Jrs. Gimnasia will play against Estudiantes C. (#16) in Concordia in the next round which should be an easy win for them. Libertad Sunchales will play at home against Argentino (#18) and hopes to get back on the winning track.
Another interesting game was a derby match between two local teams from Buenos Aires: Obras Basket (#5) and Boca Juniors (#7). Boca Juniors was defeated at home 78-85 and even the fact of playing on their own court did not help. Dion Dixon notched 39 points (!!!) to lead the effort. Even 27 points (was perfect 8-for-8 from the free throw line) by Allan Ray did not help to save the game for Boca Juniors. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Obras Basket have a solid three-game winning streak. They moved-up to third place, which they share with Ferro. Boca Juniors at the other side dropped to the eighth position with seven games lost. They share it with Libertad S.. Obras Basket will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Boca Juniors will play against the league's leader Regatas Corrientes (#1) and hope to secure a win.
Bottom-ranked Quilmes MP managed to get a third victory, breaking the five-game losing streak. This time they won against nineteenth-ranked Atenas in Mar del Plata 86-78. The best player for the winners was Lucas Ortiz who scored 15 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists. Atenas' coach Nicolas Casalanguida rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Quilmes MP (3-10) moved-up to eighteenth place, which they share with Argentino. Atenas at the other side dropped to the bottom position with 11 games lost. Quilmes MP will have a break next round. Atenas will play at home against San Martin Corrientes (#6) and hope to win that game.
Important game to mention about took place in Mercedes. Thirteenth ranked Comunicaciones (7-7) saved a 1-point victory at home edging higher ranked Gimnasia (9-5) 65-64 on Friday evening. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Gimnasia. Matias Bortolin saved the victory by scoring 14 points and 5 rebounds. Comunicaciones have a solid three-game winning streak. They moved-up to eleventh place, which they share with Olimpico LB. Loser Gimnasia dropped to the fifth position with five games lost. Comunicaciones will face higher ranked Ferro (#4) in Buenos Aires in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. Gimnasia will play on the road against Estudiantes C. in Concordia and hope to win that game.

There were no big surprises in other games of round 14: La Union was beaten by Ferro on the road 84-77. Hispano Am. won against Quilmes MP on its own court 88-74. La Union unfortunately lost to Obras Basket in Buenos Aires 80-85. Olimpico LB rolled over Argentino at home 98-75. Atenas defeated Penarol on the opponent's court 101-88. Quimsa beat Instituto in a home game 85-82. Comunicaciones destroyed Bahia Basket on the road 90-63.
The most impressive performance of 14th round was 21 points by Donald Sims of San Lorenzo.

Boca Jrs - Obras Basket 78-85

Another interesting game was a derby match between two local teams from Buenos Aires: Obras Basket (#5) and Boca Juniors (#7). American point guard Dion Dixon (191-89, college: Cincinnati, agency: Duran International) notched 39 points (!!!) to lead the effort and point guard Pedro Barral (187-94) supported him with 15 points and 7 assists. Even 27 points (was perfect 8-for-8 from the free throw line) by American guard Allan Ray (188-84, college: Villanova) did not help to save the game for Boca Juniors. The former international forward Matias Sandes (201-84) added 9 points and 10 rebounds for the hosts.
