Dion Dixon

29-year old point guard Dion Dixon (191-PG-89, agency: Duran International) had a great game in the last round for Obras Basket and receives a Interperformances Player of the Week award for round 14.
He had the game-high 39 points adding three rebounds and two assists for Obras Basket in his team's victory, helping them to beat Boca Jrs (#7, 9-7) 85-78. Obras Basket is placed at 3rd position in Argentinian league. They would have been even better if they hadn't lost a few games earlier this season. Obras Basket will need more victories to improve their 10-5 record. In the team's last game Dixon had a remarkable ten three-pointers out of 13 attempts. He turned to be Obras Basket's top player in his first season with the team. University of Cincinnati graduate has very impressive stats this year. Dixon is league's best scorer averaging so far 18.3ppg. Dixon is in league's top in and averages solid 60.7% FGP and 43.8% from behind 3-point line.

Second best performed player last round was Eloy Vargas (211-C-88, agency: Duran International) of Gimnasia. He is Dominican Rep. center in his first season at Gimnasia. In the last game Vargas recorded impressive double-double of 27 points and 12 rebounds. It was enough for Gimnasia to edge the lower-ranked Libertad S. (#9, 8-7) by 3 points 82-79. Despite this victory Gimnasia slide down in the standings to 5th position. His team lost some distance to top teams. But 9-5 record is not bad and everything may still change. Vargas is a newcomer at Gimnasia and quickly became one of team's most reliable players.

Third place about best performers goes to center Ignacio Alessio (203-C-87) of La Union (#14). Alessio scored 26 points and grabbed seven rebounds. Despite Alessio's great performance La Union lost 80-85 to the higher-ranked Obras Basket (#3, 10-5). But his team cannot count on just a single shooter as he also needs help of the other teammates. The chances of La Union ranking at the top of the league, however are very questionable as they have already lost 9 games, recording just six victories. With bigger assistance of his teammates, Alessio could help La Union to bring them higher in the standings. Alessio has a very solid season. In 15 games in Argentina he scored 14.3ppg. He also has 5.9rpg and FGP: 61.5%.

Other top performing players last week:
4. Mauro Cosolito (195-SF-88) of Ferro - 27 points and 10 rebounds
5. Luis Santos (203-F-94) of Olimpico LB - 18 points and 8 rebounds
6. Nicolas Romano (200-PF-87) of Atenas - 24 points and 8 rebounds
7. Donald Sims (185-G-87) of San Lorenzo - 21 points, 4 rebounds and 2 assists
8. Nicolas Aguirre (188-PG-88) of San Lorenzo - 19 points, 10 rebounds and 4 assists
9. Eric Anderson (204-F/C-93) of Obras Basket - 20 points, 7 rebounds and 2 assists
10. Patricio Tabarez (195-F-91) of Hispano Am. - 14 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists

The Player of the week is selected based on efficiency calculation, but also including game result, importance of the game, if played recorded double-double/triple-double, etc.
The efficiency formula is a combination of various formulas used by different basketball organizations/leagues. We got involved many basketball scouts and journalists to assure it's accuracy.
The formula: 1.5*PTS + 3* (REB+AST+ST+BL-TO) - 2*BSAG - 4*PF + 3*PFRV + 4* (2FGPM+3FGPM) + 1.5*FTM - 3* (2FGPA-2FGPM) - 3* (3FGPA-3FGPM) - (FTA-FTM)
