An exciting game between Top Four teams was played in Almagra. First ranked San Lorenzo faced 3rd placed Gimnasia. Host San Lorenzo (17-1) defeated guests from Comodoro Rivadavia (13-7) 87-82. It ended at the same time the four-game winning streak of Gimnasia. The former international point guard Nicolas Aguirre (188-88) fired 16 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners. American-Jordanian Dar Tucker (193-88, college: DePaul) chipped in 20 points. San Lorenzo's coach Gonzalo Garcia used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. Dominican center Eloy Vargas (211-88, college: Kentucky, agency: Duran International) produced 30 points and 8 rebounds for lost side. San Lorenzo have an impressive series of six victories in a row. Defending champion maintains first place with 17-1 record. Gimnasia at the other side keeps the third position with seven games lost. San Lorenzo will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Gimnasia will play on the road against Argentino in Junin and is hoping to prove to their supporters that the loss was just an accident.

Worth to mention a great performance of the former international Sebastian Vega (200-88) who helped to win the game recording 23 points and 6 rebounds. Dwight Lewis contributed with 21 points for the winners. American power forward Charles Mitchell (203-93, college: Georgia Tech, agency: Slash Sports) answered with a double-double by scoring 30 points and 16 rebounds for Ferro. The victory was the fourth consecutive win for Gimnasia. They maintain third place with 13-7 record having two points less than leader San Lorenzo. Ferro at the other side keeps the second position with seven games lost. Gimnasia will play against Argentino (#17) in Junin in the next round which should be an easy win for them. Ferro will play at home against Regatas Corrientes (#4) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.

Newly promoted team dropped to the nineteenth position with 15 games lost. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.
A very interesting game took place in Bahia Blanca. It ended with only two-point defeat on the road of 12th ranked Hispano Am. (9-9) to fifteenth ranked Bahia Basket (7-12) 87-85 on Friday evening. It was an exceptional evening for Anthony-Laveal Johnson who led the winners and scored 33 points (!!!) and 9 rebounds. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. The victory was the third consecutive win for Bahia Basket. They maintain fifteenth place with 7-12 record. Hispano Am. lost their third game in a row. They keep the twelfth position with nine games lost. Bahia Basket's next round opponent will be higher ranked Estudiantes C. (#11) in Concordia and it will be quite challenging to get another victory.

Other games of round 19 were very predictable and ended without any surprises. Here they are:
Libertad S. was defeated by Boca Jrs in Buenos Aires 82-78. Comunicaciones beat Obras Basket at home 87-78. San Martin C. lost to Comunicaciones on the opponent's court 81-85. Estudiantes C. managed to outperform San Martin C. in a home game 91-84. La Union recorded a loss to Olimpico LB on the road 93-83. Penarol was defeated by Instituto on its own court 62-76. Instituto smashed Quilmes MP in Cordoba 83-63.



Argentino - Hispano Am. 95-87

We should mention about the upset which took place in Junin, where higher ranked Hispano Am. (9-9) lost to nineteenth ranked Argentino (5-16) in a road game 87-95 on Sunday. Argentino looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. Swingman Guido Mariani (193-94) fired 22 points, 6 rebounds and 6 assists for the winners. American center Arkeem Joseph (206-94, college: Texas A&M Int.) chipped in 19 points and 9 rebounds. American power forward Devon Scott (206-94, college: Philander Smith) produced 19 points and 9 rebounds and American guard Justin Hurtt (194-88, college: Tulsa, agency: HMS) added 21 points and 7 rebounds respectively for lost side. However just four-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. Boca Juniors looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. The former international swingman Adrian Boccia (195-82) fired 28 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists for the winners. Cuban power forward Jasiel Rivero (204-93, agency: Pro Sports) chipped in 16 points. Boca Juniors' coach Guillermo Narvarte used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. It was an exceptional evening for American center Anthony-Laveal Johnson (203-88, college: Fairfield) who led the winners and scored 33 points (!!!) and 9 rebounds. Panamanian power forward Jamaal Levy (206-83, college: Wake Forest) accounted for 20 points, 11 rebounds and 5 assists for the winning side.
