ANTHONY LAVEAL JOHNSON

Experienced American Anthony Laveal Johnson (203-C-88) had a great game in the last round for Bahia Basket and that's him to receive a Interperformances Player of the Week award for round 19.
The 30-year old center had the game-high 33 points adding nine rebounds for Bahia Basket in his team's victory, helping them to edge out Hispano Am. (#12, 9-9) 87-85. The game was not the highest importance and did not have significant influence on top of the standings. Bahia Basket maintains the 15th position in Argentinian La Liga. Bahia Basket is rather a weak team placed in lower part in the standings. They need more victories to improve their 7-12 record. Johnson just recently signed at Bahia Basket, being already a very valuable addition to the team. Anthony Laveal Johnson averages this season 21.5ppg and 8.3rpg.

The second most remarkable performance in last round's games was 25-year old American power forward Charles Mitchell (203-F/C-93, agency: Slash Sports) of second-ranked Ferro. Mitchell impressed basketball fans with a double-double of 30 points and 16 rebounds. Bad luck as Ferro lost that game 89-95 to slightly lower-ranked Gimnasia (#3, 13-7). It was definitely game of the week between two contenders to the title. Ferro still maintains its place in the top 2 of the standings, even despite this loss. His team's 14-7 record is not bad at all. Mitchell is a newcomer at Ferro and it seems he did not have too much trouble to become one of team's leaders. He belongs to the best scorers in the league with 17.6ppg (#3). He also registered 9.3 boards per game.

The third best performed player last round was another Bahia Basket's star - Panamanian Jamaal Levy (206-F/C-83). Levy showcased his all-around game by recording 20 points, eleven rebounds (!!!) and five assists in the last round. He was another key player of Bahia Basket, helping his team with a 87-85 win against the higher-ranked Hispano Am. (#12, 9-9). The chances of Bahia Basket not to end season at such low position in the league, however are less than slim as they have already lost 12 games, recording just seven victories. With bigger assistance of his teammates, Levy could try to bring Bahia Basket's a little bit higher in the standings. Levy has a very solid season. In 20 games in Argentina he scored 8.9ppg. He also has 6.7rpg and FGP: 55.8%.

Other top performing players last week:
4. Eloy Vargas (211-C-88) of Gimnasia - 30 points and 8 rebounds
5. Jeremiah Massey (202-PF-82) of Olimpico LB - 25 points and 9 rebounds
6. Adrian Boccia (195-F/G-82) of Boca Jrs - 28 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists
7. Arkeem Joseph (206-C-94) of Argentino - 19 points, 9 rebounds and 3 assists
8. Lee Roberts (201-F/C-87) of San Martin C. - 15 points, 15 rebounds and 2 assists
9. Jonatan Machuca (182-PG-89) of Olimpico LB - 26 points, 4 rebounds and 2 assists
10. Jonathan Holton (203-F-91) of Obras Basket - 20 points and 12 rebounds

The Player of the week is selected based on efficiency calculation, but also including game result, importance of the game, if played recorded double-double/triple-double, etc.
The efficiency formula is a combination of various formulas used by different basketball organizations/leagues. We got involved many basketball scouts and journalists to assure it's accuracy.
The formula: 1.5*PTS + 3* (REB+AST+ST+BL-TO) - 2*BSAG - 4*PF + 3*PFRV + 4* (2FGPM+3FGPM) + 1.5*FTM - 3* (2FGPA-2FGPM) - 3* (3FGPA-3FGPM) - (FTA-FTM)

The Player of the Week awards are presented by Interperformances. Interperformances is a full-service agency specializing in the representation of professional athletes the world-over.
