The teams have now bigger motivation at this stage of Regular Season. Every game can be crucial and decide about teams' position at the end of Regular Season. The round was exceptionally exciting as three games ended with a tiny margin. There was no lack of interesting games this round. The round ended with defeat of the leader, derby games, favorites losing the games and games ending by tiny margin. Here is the last round review presented by ESL.

The most surprising game was a loss of top-ranked San Lorenzo (28-5) in Almagra on Friday night. Hosts were defeated by seventh ranked Comunicaciones (20-14) 88-71. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of San Lorenzo. Comunicaciones dominated down low during the game scoring 56 of its points in the paint compared to San Lorenzo's 22. The former international center Matias Bortolin (207-93, agency: Interperformances) stepped up and scored 20 points and 8 rebounds (on 9-of-11 shooting from the field) for the winners and Jose Defelippo (185-97) chipped in 18 points and 8 rebounds. The best for the losing side was the former international Marcos Mata (201-86) with 15 points. San Lorenzo's coach Gonzalo Garcia rotated ten players seeing no chance for a win. Comunicaciones have an impressive series of six victories in a row. They moved-up to sixth place. Defending champion San Lorenzo still keeps top position with five games lost. Comunicaciones are looking forward to face higher ranked Gimnasia (#4) in Comodoro Rivadavia in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. San Lorenzo will play on the road against the league's second-placed Obras Basket in Buenos Aires and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
Another exciting game was a derby match between two teams from Buenos Aires: Obras Basket (#3) and Ferro (#2). Ferro was defeated at home 70-77 and even the advantage of their own court did not help. It was a key game for the second position in the league. American power forward Eric Anderson (204-93, college: New Haven, agency: Duran International) nailed a double-double by scoring 25 points and 10 rebounds for the winning side and Dion Dixon accounted for 15 points and 8 assists. Mauro Cosolito (195-88) came up with 15 points and 5 assists for Ferro in the defeat. Obras Basket (22-13) moved-up to second place. Ferro at the other side dropped to the third position with 14 games lost. Obras Basket will play against league's leader San Lorenzo in Almagra in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Ferro will have a break next round.

Penarol will play against La Union (#13) and hope to secure a win.

Boca Juniors at the other side keeps the ninth position with 16 games lost. Comunicaciones' next round opponent will be higher ranked Gimnasia (#4) in Comodoro Rivadavia and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Boca Juniors will play on the road against Quimsa (#11) in Santiado del Estero and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
Twentieth-ranked Atenas (10-24) gave a tough game to eighth ranked Estudiantes C. (18-15) in Cordoba on Tuesday. The visitors from Concordia managed to secure only two-point victory 94-92. However their fans expected much easier game. Daviyon Draper stepped up and scored 29 points and 9 rebounds for the winners. Atenas' coach Nicolas Casalanguida gave the chance to play for ten players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Estudiantes C. maintains eighth place with 18-15 record. Loser Atenas stay at the bottom position with 24 games lost. Estudiantes C. will have a break next round. Atenas will play at home against Quilmes MP (#17) and hope to win that game.

There were no shocking results in the rest of the games of round 33: Estudiantes C. lost to Argentino on the opponent's court 66-79. Gimnasia managed to outperform Penarol in a home game 74-64. Hispano Am. was rolled over La Union on the road 91-70. La Union was defeated by Libertad S. on its own court 86-90. Quilmes MP was smashed by Olimpico LB in La Banda 88-57. Quimsa lost to Quilmes MP at home 83-86. Libertad S. unfortunately lost to Regatas C. on the opponent's court 70-79. Bahia Basket managed to beat Quimsa in a home game 69-53.
The most impressive stats of the last round was 15 points, 5 rebounds and 6 assists by Facundo Corvalan of Bahia Basket.



Argentino - Estudiantes C. 79-66

There was an upset in Junin where higher ranked Estudiantes C. (18-15) was defeated by nineteenth ranked Argentino (12-23) 79-66 on Friday. Argentino had a 33-22 advantage in offensive rebounds. Estudiantes C. was plagued by 30 personal fouls down the stretch. American forward Leron Black (201-96, college: Illinois) stepped up and scored 23 points and 9 rebounds for the winners and naturalized Italian swingman Juan Cangelosi (196-81) chipped in 16 points and 9 rebounds. The best for the losing side was American forward Daviyon Draper (201-94, college: FIU) with 20 points and 5 rebounds and Venezuelan swingman Pedro Chourio (186-90, agency: Pro Sports) produced a double-double by scoring 13 points and 10 rebounds. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Argentino moved-up to sixteenth place. Loser Estudiantes C. keeps the eighth position with 15 games lost. Argentino will face higher ranked Quimsa (#11) in Santiado del Estero in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory.
