JOHN FLOWERS

American Forward John Flowers (200-F-89, agency: Octagon Europe) had an amazing evening in the last round for La Union, receiving a Interperformances Player of the Week award for round 36.
The 29-year old player was the main contributor (21 points, eight rebounds and four assists) to his team's victory, helping them to crush San Martin C. (#10, 19-19) with 17-point margin 97-80. The game rather meaningless between the teams, which do not have any influence on top of the standings. Thanks to this victory La Union moved-up to the 14th position in Argentinian La Liga. La Union is a typical solid league team placed somewhere in the middle or a little bit lower in the standings. They need more victories to improve their 17-21 record. Flowers turned to be La Union's top player in his first season with the team. Former West Virginia University star has very solid stats this year. Flowers is in league's top in points (8th best: 15.9ppg) and averages impressive 57.3% FGP.

The second best player in last round's games was 30-year old American Anthony Laveal Johnson (203-C-88) of Bahia Basket. Johnson had a very good evening with a double-double of 21 points and 12 rebounds. It was enough for Bahia Basket to edge slightly lower-ranked Argentino (#17, 14-24) 78-75. The game was between two teams which are definitely not main contenders for the title. Bahia Basket dropped in the standings to 15th position. His team is not often considered as one of the league's best with a mere 15-23 record. Johnson is one of the most experienced players at Bahia Basket and has a reputation of one of team's most reliable players.

Third on the list of top players last round was Cuban Jasiel Rivero (204-C/F-93, agency: Pro Sports) of Boca Jrs (#8). Rivero scored 26 points. He was a key player of Boca Jrs, leading his team to a 86-65 easy win against the lower-ranked Hispano Am. (#16, 15-23). Boca Jrs needs these victories very badly if they think about getting closer to top teams. Their record at this point is 20 victories and 18 lost games. Rivero has a great season in Argentina. After 36 games, he made it on the list of the league's leaders in points with 18.9ppg (best scorer).

Other top performing players last week:
4. Pedro Barral (187-PG-94) of Obras Basket - 29 points, 5 rebounds and 6 assists
5. Juan Pablo Vaulet (198-SF-96) of Penarol - 21 points and 10 rebounds
6. Matias Bortolin (207-C-93) of Comunicaciones - 15 points, 13 rebounds and 4 assists
7. Jonathan Maldonado (188-G-90) of La Union - 23 points and 5 rebounds
8. Damian Tintorelli (204-C-81) of Penarol - 22 points, 10 rebounds and 2 assists
9. Leandro Vildoza (180-PG-94) of Estudiantes C. - 22 points, 3 rebounds and 6 assists
10. Joel Anthony (206-C-82) of San Lorenzo - 12 points and 14 rebounds

The Player of the week is selected based on efficiency calculation, but also including game result, importance of the game, if played recorded double-double/triple-double, etc.
The efficiency formula is a combination of various formulas used by different basketball organizations/leagues. We got involved many basketball scouts and journalists to assure it's accuracy.
The formula: 1.5*PTS + 3* (REB+AST+ST+BL-TO) - 2*BSAG - 4*PF + 3*PFRV + 4* (2FGPM+3FGPM) + 1.5*FTM - 3* (2FGPA-2FGPM) - 3* (3FGPA-3FGPM) - (FTA-FTM)

The Player of the Week awards are presented by Interperformances. Interperformances is a full-service agency specializing in the representation of professional athletes the world-over.
