Howard Wilkerson claims Argentinian La Liga Argentina Interperformances weekly honour- December 21, 2019
The 35-year old power forward had a double-double of 24 points and ten rebounds, while his team edged out Del Progreso (#6, 4-10) 73-70. It allowed C.Espanol P. to jump to the first place in the Argentinian La Liga Argentina. They would have been even better if they hadn't lost a few games earlier this season. C.Espanol P. has a very solid 11-4 record, but they cannot be too comfortable about keeping top position. In the team's last game Wilkerson had a remarkable 53.3% from 2-point range. It's his second year at C.Espanol P. and it's hard to imagine this team without him. Wofford College graduate has very impressive stats this year. Wilkerson is in league's top in points (8th best: 17.0ppg) and averages solid 61.1% FGP. The second most remarkable performance in last round's games was American center Kieston Standfield (201-C) of Ciclista. Standfield impressed basketball fans with a double-double of 29 points and 13 rebounds. Bad luck as Ciclista lost that game 76-85 to slightly higher-ranked Villa Mitre (#3, 8-6). Ciclista managed to keep the same 5th spot in SUR. His team is not often considered as one of the league's best with a mere 6-8 record. Standfield is a newcomer at Ciclista and it seems he did not have too much trouble to become one of team's leaders. The third best performed player last round was American John A. Thomas (198-PF-82) of Sp.America (#7). Thomas scored 28 points and grabbed ten rebounds. Despite Thomas' great performance Sp.America lost 85-97 to slightly higher-ranked Rivadavia (#6, 4-12). But his team cannot count on just a single shooter as he also needs help of the other teammates. Sp.America can only dream about fighting for top spots in NORTE. They have rather bad season and 2-13 record places them close to the bottom of the standings. Thomas has individually a great season in Argentina. After 14 games, he made it on the list of the league's leaders in points with 16.7ppg (9th best). Other top performing players last week: 4. Tirrell Brown (198-PF-93) of Villa S.Martin - 24 points, 6 rebounds and 2 assists 5. Gustavo Maranguello (191-G/F-83) of Del Progreso - 21 points, 12 rebounds and 3 assists 6. Jonatan Torresi (191-G/F-94) of Dep Norte - 28 points and 6 rebounds 7. Martin Percaz (180-PG-93) of Atenas - 13 points, 9 rebounds and 8 assists 8. Pablo Martinez (197-PF-82) of Union SF - 22 points and 11 rebounds 9. Joshua Davenport (196-F-94) of C.Entrerriano - 19 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists 10. George Valentine (203-F/C-88) of Atenas - 12 points, 13 rebounds and 4 assists The Player of the week is selected based on efficiency calculation, but also including game result, importance of the game, if played recorded double-double/triple-double, etc. The efficiency formula is a combination of various formulas used by different basketball organizations/leagues. We got involved many basketball scouts and journalists to assure it's accuracy. The formula: 1.5*PTS + 3* (REB+AST+ST+BL-TO) - 2*BSAG - 4*PF + 3*PFRV + 4* (2FGPM+3FGPM) + 1.5*FTM - 3* (2FGPA-2FGPM) - 3* (3FGPA-3FGPM) - (FTA-FTM)
