The fans could enjoy quite many interesting games in the last round. The round ended with change at the leadership position, derby games and favorites losing the games. Here is the last round review presented by ESL.

Third defeat of league's leader Weber Bahia (16-3) against third ranked Obras (15-3) 85-84 was the most important game of the last round. It ended at the same time the 11-game winning streak of Weber Bahia. Peruvian point guard Juan-Pablo Venegas (183-0) saved the victory by scoring 21 points, 5 rebounds and 6 assists. Franco Smaniotti (187-0) contributed with 15 points and 7 rebounds for the winners. Brazilian center Pedro Ianguas (209-98) answered with a double-double by scoring 18 points and 14 rebounds for Weber Bahia. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Obras have an impressive series of ten victories in a row. They maintain third place with 15-3 record behind leader Quimsa. Weber Bahia at the other side dropped to the second position with three games lost. They were replaced at the leadership position by Quimsa. Weber Bahia will play next round against San Lorenzo trying to make it back to the top of the standings. Obras will try to continue on its current victory against eleventh ranked Boca Jrs.. It will be extra interesting game as Boca Jrs. is their local rival from Buenos Aires.
Bottom-ranked Platense managed to get a third victory. This time they won against seventeenth-ranked Olimpico in La Banda 84-79. It was a great evening for guard Brandon Szlaien (192-99, college: Dean) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 20 points and 11 rebounds. Federico Copes helped adding 22 points and 8 rebounds. Alejandro Reyna responded with a double-double by scoring 16 points and 12 rebounds. Platense (3-16) moved-up to eighteenth place, which they share with defeated Olimpico. Olimpico lost their third game in a row. Platense will play against league's second-placed Weber Bahia in Bahia Blanca in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Olimpico will have a break next round.
Worth to mention about the upset in a game between Ferro (11-6) and Argentino (4-18), which took place in Junin. Higher ranked Ferro lost to eighteenth ranked Argentino in a road game 88-92 on Monday. It was an exceptional evening for Enzo Filipetti who led the winners with a double-double by scoring 28 points and 15 rebounds. Rodrigo Gerhardt came up with 22 points and 7 rebounds (perfect from the field making all six shots) for Ferro in the defeat. Ferro's coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Argentino moved-up to seventeenth place. Loser Ferro dropped to the ninth position with six games lost. Argentino will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Ferro will play against Penarol (#4) and will have a slim chance for a victory.
Another upset was a game between Regatas (11-8) and San Martin (9-10), which took place in Corrientes. Higher ranked Regatas was outleveled at home by thirteenth ranked San Martin 101-72. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Regatas. The best player for the winners was Rolando Vallejos who scored 23 points and 7 rebounds. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. San Martin maintains thirteenth place with 9-10 record. Regatas at the other side dropped to the tenth position with eight games lost. San Martin will have a break next round.
The game between 19th ranked H.Americano (3-19) and fourth ranked Penarol (14-5) in Rio Gallegos on Tuesday ended with biggest points difference. Guests from Mar del Plata outscored H.Americano 120-85. Juan Fernandez orchestrated the victory by scoring 28 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists. H.Americano's coach gave up on the game allowing to play eleven players seeing no chance for a win. Penarol maintains fourth place with 14-5 record. H.Americano lost their third game in a row. They dropped to the bottom. Penarol will face Ferro (#9) in Buenos Aires in the next round which should be theoretically another easy game.

There were no big surprises in other games of round 23: La Union was beaten by Libertad on the road 84-79. Atenas lost to Gimnasia on its own court 88-94. Quimsa managed to outperform Estudiantes in Santiago del Estero 81-63. Instituto rolled over Gimnasia at home 103-83. La Union defeated Atenas on the opponent's court 97-84.
The most impressive performance of 23th round was 22 points, 11 rebounds and 11 assists by Lautaro Cabrera of La Union.



Libertad - La Union 84-79

No shocking result in a game when tenth ranked Libertad (12-9) beat 15th ranked La Union (7-15) in Sunchales 84-79 on Monday. However just five-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. Libertad made 24-of-30 free shots (80.0 percent) during the game. The former international swingman Julian Eydallin (195-0) orchestrated the victory by scoring 26 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists. Forward Franco Chiabotto (199-99) contributed with 20 points and 7 rebounds (was perfect 10-for-10 from the free throw line !!!) for the winners. Point guard Lautaro Cabrera (172-0) answered with 19 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists and forward Nahuel Vicentin (200-97) added 16 points and 7 rebounds in the effort for La Union. Four La Union players scored in double figures. The victory was the third consecutive win for Libertad. They moved-up to eighth place. La Union lost their sixth game in a row. They keep the fifteenth position with 15 games lost. Libertad will face Gimnasia CR (#16) in Comodoro Rivadavia in the next round and are hoping to win another game. La Union will play on the road against Instituto in Cordoba and hope to win that game.

Bottom-ranked Platense managed to get a third victory. This time they won against seventeenth-ranked Olimpico in La Banda 84-79. Platense made 19-of-24 charity shots (79.2 percent) during the game. There was a minor upset when 14th ranked Atenas (8-13) lost to sixteenth ranked Gimnasia CR (6-13) in Cordoba 88-94 on Monday. Gimnasia CR had a 34-22 advantage in offensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. Uruguayan Bernardo Barrera (195-97) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 25 points, 12 rebounds and 5 assists. Cuban center Pedro Bombino (207-0, agency: Pro Sports) contributed with a double-double by scoring 20 points, 14 rebounds and 5 assists for the winners. Forward Octavio Sarmiento (198-1) answered with 23 points, 9 rebounds and 5 assists and Leonardo Lema (204-98) added 23 points and 7 rebounds in the effort for Atenas. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Atenas' coach tested ten players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game.
