LDD Round 29: Boca Jrs. defeat Weber Bahia in the closest game of the week

The most exciting game of round 29 in the LDD took place in Buenos Aires. This derby game ended with only two-point defeat on the road of second-ranked Weber Bahia (19-6) to seventh ranked Boca Jrs. (15-11) 89-87 on Wednesday evening. It was quite big embarassment for the guest team. Boca Jrs. forced 19 Weber Bahia turnovers. 30 personal fouls committed by Weber Bahia helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. Pablo Aaron (199-0) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 27 points and 10 rebounds for the winners and forward Tomas Pereyra (198-0) chipped in 20 points and 9 rebounds. Brazilian center Pedro Ianguas (209-98) responded with a double-double by scoring 19 points and 19 rebounds. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Boca Jrs. have a solid series of three victories in a row. They moved-up to fifth place. Weber Bahia at the other side keeps the second position with six games lost. Boca Jrs. are looking forward to face La Union (#15) in Formosa in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Weber Bahia will have a break next round.

Uruguayan center Theo Metzger (200-99) nailed a double-double by scoring 20 points, 13 rebounds and 5 assists for the winning side and Rodrigo Gerhardt accounted for 18 points, 10 rebounds, 7 assists and 4 steals. Brazilian center Gabriel Novaes (208-1) came up with a double-double by scoring 17 points and 12 rebounds for Weber Bahia in the defeat. Both coaches tested many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Ferro moved-up to seventh place. Weber Bahia at the other side keeps the second position with six games lost. Ferro will play against league's leader Quimsa in Santiago del Estero in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Weber Bahia will have a break next round.

However their fans expected much easier game. The best player for the winners was Nahuel Vicentin who had a double-double by scoring 11 points, 14 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 blocks. Nestor Lopez produced 26 points and 7 rebounds for the hosts. Platense's coach tried various players' combinations and tested in total eleven players in this game, but that didn't help. La Union have a solid series of four victories in a row. They maintain fifteenth place with 10-15 record. Platense lost third consecutive game. They keep the nineteenth position with 20 games lost. La Union will meet higher ranked Gimnasia CR (#14) in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Platense will play against Obras (#3) and will have a slim chance for a victory.

It ended at the same time the four-game winning streak of San Martin. Tomas Pereyra orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 20 points and 12 rebounds. Boca Jrs.'s coach felt very confident that he used entire bench and allowed the starting five to rest. Boca Jrs. have a solid series of three victories in a row. They moved-up to fifth place. San Martin at the other side keeps the twelfth position with 11 games lost. Boca Jrs.'s next round opponent will be La Union (#15) in Formosa and are hoping to win another game.

In the last game of round 29 Olimpico won against H.Americano on the opponent's court 104-98.



Boca Jrs. - San Martin 101-76

Seventh ranked Boca Jrs. (15-11) crushed at home 12th ranked San Martin (11-11) by 25 points 101-76, which is the biggest margin this round. It ended at the same time the four-game winning streak of San Martin. Boca Jrs. dominated down low during the game scoring 60 of its points in the paint compared to San Martin's 40 and made 17-of-22 charity shots (77.3 percent) during the game. They outrebounded San Martin 42-25 including a 33-19 advantage in defensive rebounds. Boca Jrs. players were unselfish on offense dishing 22 assists. Forward Tomas Pereyra (198-0) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 20 points and 12 rebounds. Pablo Aaron (199-0) contributed with 26 points for the winners. Four Boca Jrs. players scored in double figures. Boca Jrs.'s coach felt very confident that he used entire bench and allowed the starting five to rest. Franco Mendez (188-2) answered with 14 points and 8 rebounds and Rolando Vallejos (195-0) added 21 points in the effort for San Martin. Boca Jrs. have a solid series of three victories in a row.
