Traditionally, every week we bring you a list of the top performances of Argentinians who are currently playing abroad.
#1. This week's number one is an experienced international power forward
Luis Scola (206-80, currently plays in Italy). He could not help
Openjobmetis VA (2-1) in their last game. Despite Scola's very good performance the third-placed Openjobmetis VA (2-1) lost
80-90 on the road to the lower-ranked (#8) Cantu in the Group A.
He was the top scorer with 29 points. Scola also added 5 rebounds in 29 minutes on the court.
But this is still an early stage of the season and everything may happen.
Scola has individually a very good year with high stats. He averages: 21.7ppg, 7.3rpg, 1.7spg, 2FGP: 48.6%, 3FGP: 41.7% in three games he played so far.
Scola has a dual citizenship: Argentinian and Spanish.
He played for the Argentinian senior national team one years ago.
#2. Second place goes to former international guard
Juan Fernandez (193-90, college:
Temple, currently plays in Italy). Fernandez led
Trieste to a 2-point victory over the 12th-ranked Sassari (1-2)
74-72 in the Italian Serie A last Sunday.
He was MVP of the game. Fernandez scored 20 points, made 5 passes and 3 steals.
Allianz Pallacanestro Trieste (2-1) is placed first in Group C.
But the season just started, so everything may happen.
It's Fernandez's fourth year with the team.
He has relatively good stats this season: 12.3ppg, 3.3rpg, 5.7apg, 1.7spg, 2FGP: 60.9%(14-23), 3FGP: 9.1% and FT: 85.7%.
Fernandez is another player who holds two passports: Argentinian and Italian.
He played for the Argentinian national team in 2014.
#3. The Argentinian player who performed third best last week abroad was an international guard
Facundo Campazzo (181-91, currently plays in Spain). Campazzo led
Real Madrid to an easy victory against the 16th-ranked Gran Canaria (0-4) crushing them
90-65 in the Spanish Liga Endesa on Sunday night.
He scored 11 points, made 8 passes and 4 steals in 23 minutes.
Real Madridis placed in the Liga Endesa.
Campazzo is one of the most experienced players in a team as it's his fourth year in Real Madrid's roster.
This season Campazzo has relatively solid stats: 10.7ppg, 4.0rpg, 6.7apg, 1.7spg, 2FGP: 85.7% and FT: 66.7% in three games.
He played for the Argentinian national team one years ago.
#4. Guard
Luca Vildoza (191-95, currently plays in Spain) was not able to help
Baskonia in their last game on Sunday. Despite Vildoza's very good performance his team was edged
91-89 on the opponent's court by the lower-ranked Burgos (#3).
He was the second best scorer with 18 points. Vildoza also added 3 assists.
Vildoza has been at the team for four years.
He has reliable stats this season: 11.6ppg and 3.2apg.
Vildoza used to play for the Argentinian national team
last year.
#5. International guard
Nicolas Laprovittola (190-90, currently plays in Spain) is a teammate of previously mentioned Facundo Campazzo and both played together in the last Spanish Liga Endesa game.
Laprovittola led
Real Madrid to an easy victory against the 16th-ranked Gran Canaria (0-4) crushing them
90-65.
He scored 13 points and added 3 assists in a mere 17 minutes.
Laprovittola has very impressive stats this year: 15.3ppg, 3.7rpg, 4.7apg and 1.7spg in three games.
He used to play for the Argentinian national team
last year.
#6. Forward
Gabriel Deck (198-95, currently plays in Spain) is a teammate of previously mentioned Facundo Campazzo. He played also in the last Spanish Liga Endesa game facing Nicolas Laprovittola (above) in the other team.
Deck was the major contributor in a
Real Madrid's victory against the 16th-ranked Gran Canaria (0-4) crushing them
90-65.
He scored 14 points.
Deck's overall stats this season are: 9.3ppg, 3.3rpg and 1.8apg.
He is international player as he played for the Argentinian senior team one years ago.
#7. Former international guard
Erik Thomas (195-95, college:
New Orleans, currently plays in Mexico) was not able to secure a victory for
Soles in their last game on Friday. Despite his very good performance his team was defeated
86-77 at home by the lower-ranked Panteras (#5) in the West group.
Thomas recorded a double-double by scoring 15 points and getting 14 rebounds. He also added 7 assists.
It's Thomas' first season with the team.
This year Thomas has very high stats. He averages: 17.3ppg, 8.1rpg, 3.8apg and 2.0spg.
Thomas is a naturalized American.
He used to play for the Argentinian national team
three years ago.
Thomas played also for Regatas Corrientes in Argentinian league.
#8. Guard
Nicolas Romano (200-87, currently plays in Mexico) led
Fuerza Regia to a 3-point victory against the third-ranked Dorados (8-4)
84-81 in the Mexican LNBP (second division) on Saturday night.
He recorded 11 points in 22 minutes.
Fuerza Regia Monterrey (4-6) is placed fifth in East group.
This year Romano's overall stats are: 8.9ppg and 3.6rpg in nine games.
He used to play for the Argentinian national team
back in 2016.
#9. International small forward
Juan Pablo Vaulet (198-96, agency:
Interperformances, currently plays in Spain) couldn't help
La ICL Manresa (2-3) in their last game. Despite his good performance La ICL Manresa lost
64-69 on the opponent's court to the lower-ranked (#12) Andorra.
Vaulet was the second best scorer with 10 points. He also added 6 rebounds in 27 minutes.
There are only two games left until the end of the Regular Season. So now every game will be critical.
This year Vaulet's total stats are: 7.4ppg and 2.6rpg in five games.
He is also in the roster of the Argentinian national team.
#10. Swingman
Leandro Bolmaro (198-0, currently plays in Euroleague) couldn't help
FC Barcelona (1-1) in their game against Zenit (2-0) in the Euroleague. Bolmaro cannot count Friday's game as one of the best ones.
He scored only 2 points. It was his first game for FC Barcelona this season.
FC Barcelona was defeated
74-70 in Sankt Petersburg by the higher-ranked Zenit (#5).
But the season is still in its first stage and everything can happen.
Bolmaro is U19 international player as one years ago he still played for the Argentinian national team.
#11. International forward
Nicolas Brussino (202-93, currently plays in Spain) couldn't help
Zaragoza in their game against Burgos in the Spanish Liga Endesa.
Brussino scored 7 points, grabbed 4 rebounds and dished 3 assists.
His team was defeated
100-86.
Brussino has averaged so far 9.4ppg, 3.6rpg, 3.6apg and 1.6spg.
He used to play for the Argentinian national team
last year.
#12. Former U21 international point guard
Lautaro Lopez (188-99, currently plays in Slovakia) couldn't help one of league's weakest teams
Inter Bratislava in their game against Handlova in the Slovakian SBL, despite his very good performance on Saturday night.
Lopez was the top scorer with 22 points. He also added 6 rebounds and dished 7 assists in 36 minutes.
But his team lost
76-83.
Lopez has very impressive stats this year: 19.0ppg, 6.5rpg, 8.3apg and 2.0spg in four games.
He used to play for the Argentinian U21 national team
back in 2018.
#13. International forward
Facundo Pinero (202-88, currently plays in Mexico) led
Aaguacateros to an easy victory against the third-ranked Astros
90-74 in the Mexican LNBP (second division) in Thursday night's game.
Pinero scored 11 points, grabbed 5 rebounds and dished 3 assists.
Pinero has averaged so far 8.6ppg, 3.8rpg and 2.3apg.
He is also Argentinian national team player.
#14. Former international center
Daniel Amigo (208-95, college:
Denver, currently plays in Lithuania) couldn't help
P.Zvaigzdes in their game against Lietkabelis in the Lithuanian LKL.
Amigo recorded only 4 points and grabbed 8 rebounds in 17 minutes.
His team was badly defeated by 19 points
82-63.
Amigo has averaged so far 6.0ppg, 5.2rpg and 1.2apg in five games.
He is a naturalized American.
Amigo used to play for the Argentinian national team
back in 2017. Strangely he has never played in Argentina.
#15. International center
Roberto Acuna (208-90, currently plays in Mexico) is a teammate of previously mentioned Erik Thomas and both played together in the last Mexican LNBP game.
Acuna couldn't help
Soles in their game against Panteras.
He scored 8 points and grabbed 4 rebounds.
His team was defeated
86-77.
Acuna has averaged so far 7.8ppg and 4.5rpg.
He is also in the roster of the Argentinian national team.
The list of other players, who all have Argentinian passport but never been selected to any of Argentinian national teams: #1. Experienced
Bruno Cerella (194-F/G-86, currently plays in EuroCup). Cerella could not help
Umana Venezia (1-1) to beat Partizan NiS (1-1).
He scored 8 points in only 7 minutes. It was his first game for Umana Venezia this season.
Umana Venezia (#5) was crushed
95-73 on the road by the second-ranked Partizan NiS in the group A of Eurocup.
But the season is still in its first stage and everything can happen.
Cerella plays fourth season for the team.
Cerella has a dual citizenship: Argentinian and Italian.
#2. Andres Forray (187-PG-86, currently plays in EuroCup) contributed to an easy victory against the sixth-ranked Promitheas (0-2) crushing them
78-51 in the Eurocup in Tuesday night's game.
Forray scored 8 points, grabbed 4 rebounds and dished 5 assists.
Dolomiti Energia Trentino (2-0) is placed second in group D.
But the season is still in its first stage and everything can happen.
Forray plays tenth season for the team.
His total stats this year are: 8.0ppg, 3.0rpg, 4.5apg and 1.5spg.
Forray is another player who holds two passports: Argentinian and Italian.
#3. Ariel Filloy (190-PG-87, agency:
Interperformances, currently plays in Italy) was not able to help
Pesaro (2-1) in their last game. Despite his good performance Pesaro (#2) lost
72-81 on the opponent's court to the lower-ranked (#8) Cantu in the Group D.
Filloy scored 11 points, grabbed 5 rebounds and dished 5 assists in 27 minutes.
But the season is still in its first stage and everything can happen.
Filloy has averaged so far 10.0ppg, 2.3rpg and 4.3apg in three games he played so far.
Similarly like Forray and Cerella above he has both Argentinian and Italian nationalities.
