Martin Cabrera
25-year old point guard Martin Cabrera (179-PG-96) had an amazing evening in the last round for league's best team Estudiantes O. and receives a Hoops Agents La Liga Argentina Player of the Week award for round 41.
He had the game-high 23 points adding four rebounds and seven assists for Estudiantes O. in his team's victory, helping them to beat Zarate Basket (#8, 7-6) 81-72. It allowed Estudiantes O. to consolidate first place in the Argentinian La Liga Argentina. Estudiantes O. have a solid 11-2 record. Cabrera turned to be Estudiantes O.'s top player in his first season with the team. Cabrera has impressive league stats. He is in league's top in points (2nd best: 20.8ppg) and averages solid 59.1% FGP.
Second best performed player last round was Lucas Gonzalez (199-PF-94) of league's second-best Dep Viedma. He is a forward in his 4th season at Dep Viedma. In the last game Gonzalez recorded impressive 9 points, 16 rebounds and 6 assists. Of course Dep Viedma cruised to a 82-74 relatively comfortable win over slightly lower-ranked Ciclista (#3, 9-5). It was definitely game of the week between two contenders to the top position in Conferencia Sur. Dep Viedma consolidated its place in top 2 of the standings. His team's 9-4 record is not bad at all. Gonzalez is one of the most experienced players at Dep Viedma and has a reputation of one of team's most reliable players.
Third place about best performers goes to center Juan Germano (208-C-99) of Salta Basket (#8). Germano scored 14 points and grabbed nine rebounds. He was a key player of Salta Basket, leading his team to a 79-75 win against the lower-ranked Colon SF (#13, 2-10). Salta Basket needs these victories very badly if they think about getting closer to top teams in Conference Norte. Their record at this point is 7 victories and 7 lost games. Germano has a very solid season. In 27 games in Argentina he scored 2.3ppg.
