Juan Luis Abeiro
Juan Luis Abeiro (200-C/F-1988) had a great game in the last round for top-ranked Ameghino, receiving a Hoops Agents La Liga Argentina Player of the Week award for round 14.
The 34-year old player was the main contributor (23 points, nine rebounds and two assists) to his team's victory, helping them to beat Tucuman (#11, 4-8) 90-76. It allowed Ameghino to consolidate first place in the Argentinian La Liga Argentina. Ameghino have a solid 12-2 record. In the team's last game Abeiro had a remarkable 62.5% from 2-point range. He has many years of experience at Ameghino, through which he has constantly improved. Juan Luis Abeiro averages this season 13.5ppg and 6.7rpg.
The second best player in last round's games was young Matias Eidintas (186-SG-1995) of Dep Viedma. Eidintas had a very good evening with 29 points, 6 rebounds and 2 assists. It was enough for Dep Viedma to edge the higher-ranked Racing (#3, 7-2) 80-78. This victory allowed Dep Viedma to move up to 11th position in South. His team is not often considered as one of the league's best with a mere 4-6 record. Eidintas is one of the most experienced players at Dep Viedma and has a reputation of one of team's most reliable players. He belongs to the best scorers in the league with 20.9ppg (#3).
Third on the list of top players last round was guard Manuel Alonso (195-PG-1999, agency: BIG) of CAO Ceres (#9). Alonso showcased his all-around game by recording 23 points, six rebounds and nine assists in the last round. He was a key player of CAO Ceres, leading his team to a 91-83 win against the lower-ranked Echague (#14, 3-8). The chances of CAO Ceres ranking at the top of North, however are very questionable as they have already lost 7 games, recording just five victories. With bigger assistance of his teammates, Alonso could help CAO Ceres to bring them higher in the standings. Alonso has a great season in Argentina. After 12 games, he made it on the list of the league's leaders in points with 22.0ppg (best scorer).
