Douglas Herring Jr. (ex Al Gezira) is a newcomer at La Union

La-Union-Formosa (La Liga) strengthened their roster with addition of experienced 35-year old Syrian-American ex-international guard Douglas Herring Jr. (191cm-91kg-1987, college: Utica). He played most recently at Al Gezira in Egyptian Superleague. He helped them to make it to the semifinals. Herring was a member of Syrian Senior National Team two years ago.
He is quite experienced player. Thanks to his pro career he managed to play on four different continents (Europe, Asia, Latin America and of course North America) in eight different countries. Herring has played previously professionally in Canada (Riptide, Moncton Magic, London Lightning and Windsor Express), China (Zhuhai), France (Orchesien BC), Indonesia (CLS Knights), United Kingdom (Flyers), Uruguay (Defensor), PBA (RazorSharks) and APBL (Hudson Valley). He won NBL Canada championship title in 2017 and 2018. Herring was voted to USBasket.com All-NBL Canada Honorable Mention back in 2014, 2017 and 2018.
It's very possible he may end his playing career at La Union.
He graduated from Utica College in 2009 and it will be his 14th (!!!) season as a professional player.
The scouts decsribe him following way: A talented player who has the rare combination of being a devastating scorer but he also makes the right basketball plays. Compared to Paul Pierce by some of his friends, in fact he can resemble some of the Pierce's game..
