The game between third ranked Zarate Basket (13-7) and fifteenth ranked GELP (7-13) was the most important one in the last round on Wednesday night. Zarate Basket was edged by GELP in a tough game in La Plata 79-82. It ended at the same time the four-game winning streak of Zarate Basket. Center Franco Barroso (207-1994) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 14 points and 12 rebounds. point guard Alan Moreno (185-1997, agency: BIG) contributed with 18 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners. point guard Lucas Andujar (185-1996) answered with 13 points, 5 rebounds, 6 assists and 4 steals for Zarate Basket. Zarate Basket's coach Juan Anglese rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. GELP have a solid series of three victories in a row. They moved-up to fourteenth place, which they share with Rivadavia and Pilar. Zarate Basket at the other side keeps the third position with seven games lost. GELP will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Zarate Basket will play on the road against Lanus and will have a slim chance for a victory.
Very important is a road loss of second ranked Ciclista (14-6) against ninth ranked Rocamora (10-9) on Thursday night. Visiting Ciclista was defeated by Rocamora in a tough game in Rocamora 86-94. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Ciclista. Center Alejandro Quigley (203-1993, agency: BIG) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 23 points and 14 rebounds (on 10-of-13 shooting from the field) for the winners and Justo Catalin chipped in 15 points, 7 rebounds, 11 assists and 4 steals. Forward Juan Martin Bello (200-1999) responded with 20 points, 5 assists and 5 steals. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Rocamora moved-up to seventh place, which they share with Colon SF. Ciclista at the other side keeps the second position with six games lost. Rocamora will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Ciclista will play at home against Quilmes MP and hopes to get back on the winning track.
An interesting game for Ameghino (18-3) which hosted in Villa Maria 3rd placed Barrio Parque (14-4). Second ranked Ameghino managed to get a 6-point victory 85-79. Juan Luis Abeiro nailed 22 points for the winning side. Tomas Luduena came up with 17 points and 7 assists for Barrio Parque in the defeat. Ameghino have a solid series of four victories in a row. They maintain second place with 18-3 record behind leader Racing. Loser Barrio Parque keeps the third position with four games lost. Ameghino will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Barrio Parque will play against Jachal and hope to secure a win.

There were no big surprises in other games of round 29: Ciclista beat Parque Sur on the road 77-62. Pico FC won against La Union on its own court 79-73. Montmartre unfortunately lost to Sarmiento R. in Chaco 69-77. Jachal recorded a loss to Echague at home 54-72. GEPU was defeated by CAO Ceres on the opponent's court 74-79. Lanus beat Pergamino in a home game 98-83. La Union won against Del Progreso on the road 87-74. Villa S.Martin unfortunately lost to Montmartre on its own court 66-73.
The most impressive performance of 29th round was 16 points and 5 rebounds by Martin Gomez of Montmartre.



Parque Sur - Ciclista 62-77

No shocking result in a game when second ranked Ciclista (14-6) beat 17th ranked Parque Sur (3-16) in Concepcion de Urug. 77-62 on Wednesday. Ciclista forced 20 Parque Sur turnovers. Center Facundo Jerez (202-1995) nailed 12 points and 9 rebounds for the winning side and swingman Lisandro Fernandez (194-1998, agency: BIG) accounted for 13 points. Four Ciclista players scored in double figures. Ciclista's coach used a ten-player rotation and allowed the starting five to rest. Point guard Laureano Legaria (180-2000) came up with 12 points, 5 rebounds and 7 assists and Franco Fragozo (198-2001) added 9 points and 11 rebounds respectively for Parque Sur in the defeat. Ciclista have a solid series of three victories in a row. They maintain second place with 14-6 record having seven points less than leader Racing. Parque Sur lost fifteenth consecutive game. They keep the seventeenth position with 16 games lost. Ciclista will meet at home Quilmes MP (#9) in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Parque Sur will have a break next round.

There was a minor upset when 9th ranked La Union (10-10) lost to eleventh ranked Pico FC (9-11) in General Pico 73-79 on Thursday. Pico FC dominated down low during the game scoring 46 of its points in the paint compared to La Union's 22. American-Rwandan forward Axel Mpoyo (203-1997, college: GSU) nailed a double-double by scoring 16 points and 13 rebounds for the winning side and Franco Zalabardo (190-1991) accounted for 17 points and 8 rebounds. Center German Frencia (202-1988) came up with 8 points and 16 rebounds and point guard Bruno Conti (182-2000) added 10 points and 8 assists respectively for La Union in the defeat. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Pico FC moved-up to tenth place. La Union at the other side, also newcomer in the league, dropped to the eighth position with ten games lost. Pico FC will meet Pergamino (#11) on the road in the next round.
