Newly promoted Zarate Basket Independiente (La Liga) tabbed 24-year old Chilean international 196cm guard Marcelo Perez for new season. Perez just graduated from Southern Miss (NCAA).
He started his college career at Barry University (NCAA2) where he played four seasons. Then he moved to University of Southern Mississippi (NCAA). His high school career he had spent at Miami Christian Academy in Miami, FL.
Perez has been also a member of Chilean international program for some years. He has regularly played for Chilean senior team since 2020 and previously for U17 National Team back in 2015.
Perez represented Chile at the FIBA Americas Championship U18 in Valdivia (Chile) seven years ago. His stats at that event were 5 games: 7.6ppg, 3.2rpg, 1.0apg, FGP: 47.6%, 3PT: 35.7%, FT: 50.0%.
So his pro career just started in Argentina. His team won Sun Belt Regular Season in 2023.
