Penarol Mar del Plata, a team in La Liga, has hired Hernan Laginestra as their new coach. Laginestra, a 54-year-old Argentinian, brings a wealth of experience to the team. He previously coached Piratas in the Ecuadorian league last season.
He has also coached professionally in Colombia (Motilones), Mexico, Uruguay (Bigua), and Argentina (Ferro, Olimpico, and Estudiantes Concordia).
The list of past achievements is extensive. In 2021, he won the Uruguay LUB championship title and was voted the Latinbasket.com All-Uruguay LUB Coach of the Year.
