San Lorenzo was defeated by Platense in a tough game in Florida 81-85. It ended at the same time the seven-game winning streak of San Lorenzo. 30 personal fouls committed by San Lorenzo helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. The best player for the winners was point guard Facundo Vazquez (185-1998) who scored 23 points and 7 rebounds (was perfect 12-for-12 from the free throw line !!!). The former international Eric Flor (190-1993) chipped in 16 points. Forward Gaston Cordoba (200-1994) produced 17 points and 7 rebounds for the guests. San Lorenzo's coach Leonardo Costa rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Platense moved-up to fourth place. Important game to mention about took place in Mercedes. Twelfth ranked Ferro (4-6) saved a 2-point victory on the road edging 15th ranked Comunicaciones (4-8) 89-87 on Sunday evening. Forward Mariano Fierro (200-1986) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 21 points and 11 rebounds. Damian Tintorelli contributed with 19 points and 11 rebounds for the winners. American guard Marcus Thomas (191-1995, college: Rosemont) answered with 18 points, 6 rebounds and 6 assists for Comunicaciones. Despite that victory Ferro went down to thirteenth position due to points difference, which they share with Obera. Comunicaciones lost sixth consecutive game. They dropped to the sixteenth place with eight games lost. Ferro will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Comunicaciones will play at home against Union (#18) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
A very close game took place in Formosa between La Union and Ferro. Seventeenth ranked La Union (3-8) got a very close home victory over higher ranked Ferro (4-6). La Union managed to escape with a 2-point win 79-77 on Tuesday evening. It was a great evening for Luciano Guerra who led his team to a victory scoring 20 points and 5 rebounds. Tomas Spano responded with 17 points. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. La Union maintains seventeenth place with 3-8 record. Loser Ferro dropped to the thirteenth position with six games lost. They share it with Obera. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.
Other games of round 11 were quite predictable and ended without any surprises. Here they are:
bottom-ranked Penarol was defeated by Independ.O. in Olivia 83-75. Zarate beat Regatas at home 73-66. Regatas won against Obras on the opponent's court 79-71.
