LDD Round 11 (Regular Season): Comunicaciones defeat Obera in the closest game of the week

The most exciting game of round 11 in the LDD took place in Mercedes. This derby game ended with only three-point defeat on the road of second-ranked Obera (9-3) to fifth ranked Comunicaciones (9-4) 68-65 on Sunday evening. Comunicaciones shot 21 for 29 from the free-throw line, while Obera only scored four points from the stripe. They outrebounded Obera 45-32 including 35 on the defensive glass. It was a great evening for point guard Agustin Passone (180-2003) who led his team to a victory scoring 15 points and 8 rebounds. Forward Marcos Panozzo (195) helped adding 9 points and 13 rebounds. Power forward Kelvin Ramirez (204-2002) responded with 16 points and 8 rebounds. Comunicaciones have an impressive series of six victories in a row. They moved-up to fourth place, which they share with Boca Jrs. Defending champion Obera keeps the second position with three games lost. They share it with Ferro. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.
Olimpico has finally registered their first victory this season after ten consecutive losses. The win is especially important as it came on the road game in Corrientes, where they defeated San Martin (1-11) 68-61. It was an exceptional evening for point guard Agustin Stancampiano (182-2004) who led the winners and scored 14 points and 5 rebounds. Ignacio Gonzalez accounted for 14 points. Center Lorenzo Benay (203-2004) came up with 17 points and 8 rebounds for San Martin in the defeat. San Martin's coach Diego Blanco rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. LDD top team - Gimnasia CR (11-1) added another victory to their record on Friday. This time they beat ninth ranked Obras (6-5) in Comodoro Rivadavia 78-70. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Obras. The best player for the winners was Angel Reyes who had a double-double by scoring 30 points and 13 rebounds. Valentino Finetti produced a double-double by scoring 22 points and 12 rebounds for the guests. The victory was the third consecutive win for Gimnasia CR. They maintain first place with 11-1 record. Obras at the other side keeps the ninth position with five games lost. Gimnasia will meet Penarol (#14) in the next round which should be an easy win for them. Obras will have a break next round.

There were no shocking results in the rest of the games of round 11: Instituto lost to Platense on the opponent's court 34-44. San Lorenzo managed to outperform Quimsa in a home game 64-62. Union recorded a loss to Comunicaciones on the road 73-60. Argentino was crushed by Independ.O. on its own court 67-105. Quimsa was beaten by Boca Jrs. in Buenos Aires 74-63. San Martin lost to defending champion Obera at home 54-91. Instituto was outscored by Ferro on the opponent's court 62-81. La Union managed to beat Olimpico in a home game 73-68. Independ.O. defeated Platense on the road 82-71.



Platense - Instituto 44-34

There was a minor upset in Florida where 8th ranked Instituto (6-3) was defeated by eleventh ranked Platense (5-8) 44-34 on Thursday. The best player for the winners was swingman Mariano Goicoechea (195-2004) who scored 15 points. Venezuelan point guard Anthoan Urbina (183-2005) chipped in 6 points. Point guard Ignacio Beltramino (179) produced 9 points and 7 rebounds and guard Fausto Moussa (198-2004) added 17 points respectively for the guests. The victory was the third consecutive win for Platense. Despite that victory Platense went down to twelfth position due to points difference. Instituto lost their third game in a row. They keep the eighth place with three games lost. Platense will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Instituto will play against San Lorenzo (#11) and hope to secure a win.

Center Raymon Bastardo (202-2002) produced 20 points, 9 rebounds and 5 assists (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field) and Facundo Campos (-2005) added 7 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists respectively for the guests.
