Round 18 most important game was a defeat of league's leader Atenas (10-3). They were defeated by sixth ranked Barrio Parque (8-6) 83-67 on Monday night. Swingman Lautaro Rivata (190-1987) scored 18 points and 6 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and Valentin Bauducco (186-2002) chipped in 15 points and 5 rebounds during the contest. The best for the losing side was American center Roquez Johnson (201-1992, college: MSU, agency: BIG) with 18 points and 9 rebounds. Barrio Parque moved-up to fifth place, which they share with GELP. Atenas at the other side dropped to the second position with three games lost. They were replaced at the leadership position by Pico FC.
Important game to mention about took place in Rio Gallegos. First ranked Pico FC (10-4) saved a 1-point derby victory on the road edging 9th ranked H.Americano (6-5) 71-70 on Saturday evening. Guest team only slightly avoided a big embarassment. It ended at the same time the six-game winning streak of H.Americano. Facundo Saez notched a double-double by scoring 22 points and 13 rebounds to lead the effort and Franco Zalabardo supported him with 22 points and 8 rebounds. Even 17 points and 8 rebounds by forward Gonzalo Romero (196-1997) did not help to save the game for H.Americano. Pico FC maintains first position with 10-4 record. H.Americano at the other side dropped to the eighth place with five games lost. They share the position with San Isidro and Montmartre.
An interesting game took place in Mar del Plata where higher ranked Dep Viedma (8-4) was upset on the court of thirteenth ranked Quilmes MP (6-9) 79-73 on Sunday. It ended at the same time the four-game winning streak of Dep Viedma. The best player for the winners was Luis Cequeira who scored 25 points, 8 rebounds and 7 assists. At the other side the best for losing team was Matias Alluchon who recorded 12 points and 5 rebounds. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Quilmes MP moved-up to twelfth place. Loser Dep Viedma dropped to the third position with four games lost. They share it with Villa S.Martin and Dep Norte.

There were no shocking results in the other games in round 18: Racing A. won against La Union on the opponent's court 81-71. Rocamora unfortunately lost to Pilar in a home game 69-86. Lanus recorded a loss to Provincial on the road 65-79. Rocamora was defeated by Lanus on its own court 70-83. Villa S.Martin beat Salta Basket in Resistencia 76-70. Salta Basket lost to Montmartre at home 82-86.
The most impressive stats of the last round was 17 points by Lahuel Silva of Montmartre.




La Union - Racing A. 71-81

Rather expected game in Colon where 10th ranked La Union (6-8) was defeated by seventh ranked Racing A. (7-2) 81-71 on Saturday. The best player for the winners was forward Rafael Rosende (198-1997) who had a double-double by scoring 11 points and 11 rebounds. Swingman Luciano Silva (190-1996) chipped in 19 points. Four Racing A. players scored in double figures. Racing A.'s coach Fernando Rosanova used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. At the other side the best for losing team was point guard Guido Cabrera (188-2000) who recorded 19 points (on 7-of-8 shooting from the field) and center German Frencia (202-1988) added 14 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists respectively. Racing A. moved-up to sixth place. Loser La Union dropped to the eleventh position with eight games lost.

Very predictable result when fourth ranked Pilar (9-4) defeated on the road 17th ranked Rocamora (3-11) 86-69 on Saturday. Pilar outrebounded Rocamora 48-36 including a 40-27 advantage in defensive rebounds. The best player for the winners was American center Dishon Lowery (200-1998, college: OKBU) who had a double-double by scoring 16 points, 14 rebounds and 5 blocks. Puerto Rican guard Jesus Cruz (196-1998, college: Fairfield) chipped in 23 points and 7 rebounds. At the other side the best for losing team was Federico Repetti who recorded 21 points and 8 rebounds and point guard Agustin Cavallin (188-2001) added 13 points and 4 assists respectively. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Rocamora's coach Agustin Pujol rotated twelve players seeing no chance for a win. Pilar have a solid three-game winning streak. They moved-up to second place. Rocamora lost seventh consecutive game. They keep the seventeenth position with 11 games lost.

There was a minor upset in Rosario where 9th ranked Lanus (7-5) was defeated by eleventh ranked Provincial (7-7) 79-65 on Saturday. Provincial dominated down low during the game scoring 52 of its points in the paint compared to Lanus' 26. Provincial looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. The best player for the winners was forward Federico Perez (198-1992, agency: BIG) who scored 11 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists. The former international swingman Adrian Boccia (195-1982) chipped in a double-double by scoring 10 points and 11 rebounds. Five Provincial players scored in double figures. At the other side the best for losing team was point guard Andres Lugli (188-1995) who recorded 14 points and 6 rebounds and Somadina Edo added 11 points and 9 rebounds respectively. Provincial moved-up to eighth place. Loser Lanus dropped to the seventh position with five games lost.
