The game in Cordoba was quite interesting. One of their biggest challengers San Lorenzo (10-5) played at the court of fifth ranked Instituto (10-4). Instituto defeated San Lorenzo 66-52 on Friday. Instituto outrebounded San Lorenzo 47-32 including a 15-4 advantage in offensive rebounds. Even 24 points and 8 rebounds by American center Vaughn De (205-1988, college: Stillman) did not help to save the game for Gimnasia. Gimnasia's coach Martin Villagran rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Penarol have a solid three-game winning streak. They moved-up to sixteenth place. Gimnasia at the other side dropped to the twelfth position with eight games lost. Penarol will play against Comunicaciones (#17) in Mercedes in the next round. Gimnasia will have a break next round.
A very close game took place in Obera between Obera and Riachuelo. Eleventh ranked Obera (7-6) got a very close home victory over 13th ranked Riachuelo (6-8).
