Penarol lands Diamon Simpson

Diamon Simpson

Penarol Mar del Plata, a team in La Liga, has signed Diamon Simpson, a 36-year-old American forward who stands at 204cm tall. Simpson, who played college basketball at SMC, most recently competed for Gutter Cats in The Basketball Tournament in the U.S. However, in the three TBT games he played recently, he failed to score any points but managed to record 1 steal and 1 block. In the previous season, Simpson played for Riachuelo.
He attempted to reach the NBA and participated in the NBA Pro Summer League in 2016.
He has played professionally in twelve different countries on five different continents, thanks to his experience in pro basketball. He has played in Australia for the Adelaide 36ers, Israel for Maccabi Tel Aviv, Maccabi Effie Capital Rishon Le-Zion, Ironi Nahariya, Maccabi Ashdod/Be'er Tuvia, and Ironi Nes Ziona. He has also played in Mexico for Dorados and Plateros, Philippines for FiberXers, Russia for Avtodor, Spain for Estudiantes, Turkey for Buyukcekmece, Venezuela for Trotamundos, NBA for the Houston Rockets, Czech Republic for Nymburk, Argentina for Quimsa, and The Basketball Tournament for Gael Force.
In 2022, his team was the regular season runner-up in the Mexican LNBP. He was also voted to the Latinbasket.com Argentinian La Liga All-Imports Team in 2021. This may be one of the last seasons in his extensive career, and he may choose to end it at Penarol.
He graduated from Saint Mary's College of California in 2009, and this upcoming season will mark his 15th in professional basketball.
