Here is the last round review presented by Job Market.

We should mention about the upset which took place in Mercedes, where higher ranked Zarate (8-7) lost to seventeenth ranked Comunicaciones (5-12) in a road game 70-75 on Friday. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Zarate. The best player for the winners was American guard Marcus Thomas (191-1995, college: Rosemont) who scored 21 points and 4 assists. Forward Rodrigo Sanchez (200-1989) chipped in 14 points and 11 rebounds. Comunicaciones' coach used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. Agustin Brocal (191-1997) produced 18 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists for the guests. Comunicaciones moved-up to sixteenth place. Newly promoted Zarate dropped to the ninth position with seven games lost. They share it with Regatas and San Martin. Comunicaciones will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Zarate will play at home against Penarol (#17) and is hoping to win this game.
An interesting game took place in Comodoro Rivadavia, where higher ranked San Lorenzo (11-6) lost to eleventh ranked Gimnasia (9-8) in a road game 67-75. The former international Pablo Gramajo (193-1996) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 11 points, 5 rebounds, 10 assists and 4 steals. Vaughn De contributed with 17 points and 8 rebounds for the winners. Gimnasia's coach Martin Villagran used entire bench which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Swingman Federico Grun (191-1996) answered with 17 points and 6 rebounds for San Lorenzo. Gimnasia moved-up to seventh place. San Lorenzo at the other side keeps the fifth position with six games lost. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.

Tomas Spano stepped up and scored 26 points and 4 assists (on 10-of-13 shooting from the field) for the winners. Ferro's coach Federico Fernandez let to play all 12 players and allowed the starting five to rest. Johnatan Slider responded with 17 points and 6 rebounds. Ferro moved-up to thirteenth place, which they share with Riachuelo. Argentino lost fourth consecutive game. They stay at the bottom position with 14 games lost. Ferro will meet higher ranked Platense (#3) in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Argentino will have a break next round.

In the last two games of round 17 Instituto defeated Riachuelo in Cordoba 86-74. Regatas was beaten by Olimpico at home 90-97.
The best stats of 17th round was 29 points and 7 rebounds by Nicolas Romano of Olimpico.




Riachuelo LR - Instituto 74-86

There was no surprise in La Rioja where 13th ranked Riachuelo (6-9) was defeated by fifth ranked Instituto (11-4) 86-74 on Thursday. It was a great shooting night for Instituto especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 52.4 percentage. Uruguayan-Italian swingman Nicola Pomoli (195-1999) stepped up and scored 21 points and 6 rebounds for the winners and the former international forward Bautista Lugarini (203-2001) chipped in 11 points and 8 rebounds. Instituto's coach Lucas Victoriano allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. The former international point guard Nicolas De los Santos (180-1988) responded with 14 points and 5 assists (was perfect 7-for-7 from the free throw line) and Dominican-American forward Anyeuri Castillo (201-1997, college: USC Aiken) scored 13 points and 5 rebounds. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Instituto have an impressive series of five victories in a row. They moved-up to third place, which they share with Platense. Loser Riachuelo LR keeps the thirteenth position with nine games lost. They share it with Ferro. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.

No shocking result in a game in Corrientes where second ranked Olimpico (12-2) defeated 9th ranked Regatas (8-7) 97-90 on Friday. The former international guard Nicolas Romano (200-1987) stepped up and scored 29 points and 7 rebounds for the winners and forward Patricio Tabarez (195-1991) chipped in 22 points and 8 rebounds. Guard Franco Vieta (194-1992) responded with 20 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists and point guard Tobias Franchela (185-2001) scored 16 points. Five Olimpico and four Regatas players scored in double figures. Olimpico maintains second place with 12-2 record behind leader Quimsa. Loser Regatas keeps the ninth position with seven games lost. They share it with Zarate and San Martin. Olimpico will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Regatas will play against Independ.O. (#15) and hope to secure a win.
