The most shocking disappointment of round 31 was a home defeat of their biggest opponent Lanus (14-7) by third ranked Dep Viedma (15-6) who outscored them by 16 points 83-67 in the game for the second place. It was a key game for the second position in the league. Dep Viedma had a 35-24 advantage in offensive rebounds. They shot the lights out from three sinking 15 long-distance shots on high 55.6 percentage. It was a great evening for point guard Mariano Marina (-1999) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 14 points, 14 rebounds and 5 assists. point guard Matias Alluchon (185-2000) helped adding 15 points and 4 assists. At the losing side point guard Andres Lugli (188-1995) responded with a double-double by scoring 16 points, 12 rebounds, 5 assists and 8 steals. Lanus' coach Sebastian Saborido rotated eleven players seeing no chance for a win. Dep Viedma moved-up to second place. Lanus at the other side dropped to the third position with seven games lost. Dep Viedma are looking forward to face Provincial (#7) in Rosario in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Lanus will play at home against the league's leader Racing (#1) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
Important game to mention about took place in Bahia Blanca. Sixth ranked Villa Mitre (12-10) saved a 3-point victory at home edging 7th ranked Provincial (10-10) 93-90 in the fight for the sixth place. It was an exceptional evening for power forward Franco Pennacchiotti (205-1990) who led the winners and scored 18 points, 8 rebounds and 5 assists. Juan Bollo accounted for 14 points and 13 rebounds. The former international swingman Adrian Boccia (195-1982) came up with a double-double by scoring 22 points and 10 rebounds for Provincial in the defeat. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Villa Mitre maintains sixth place with 12-10 record. Newly promoted Provincial keeps the seventh position with ten games lost. They share it with Rivadavia. Villa Mitre will play against La Union (#9) in Colon in the next round. Provincial will play on the road against the league's second-placed Dep Viedma in Rio Negro and hopes to get back on the winning track.
Very important is a road loss of second ranked Atenas (13-5) against fifth ranked GEPU (12-7) on Monday night. Visiting Atenas was defeated by GEPU in San Luis 69-56. Jorge Mas fired 19 points and 6 rebounds for the winners. Lucas Arn produced 15 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists for lost side. GEPU moved-up to third place. Loser Atenas keeps the second position with five games lost. They share it with Pico FC. GEPU will meet at home Barrio Parque (#9) in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Atenas will have a break next round.

There were no shocking results in the rest of the games of round 31: Colon was destroyed by Villa S.Martin on the opponent's court 103-82. Ciclista unfortunately lost to H.Americano in a home game 74-75. Barrio Parque managed to beat Rivadavia on the road 68-62. Independiente defeated Dep Norte on its own court 75-68.

Very expected game in Resistencia where 14th ranked Colon (3-13) was crushed by sixth ranked Villa S.Martin (11-8) 103-82 on Sunday. Villa S.Martin dominated down low during the game scoring 60 of its points in the paint compared to Colon SF's 38. Villa S.Martin looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. Ramiro Frontera fired a double-double by scoring 13 points and 12 assists for the winners. Bruno Galassi chipped in 16 points and 8 rebounds. Villa S.Martin's coach felt very confident that he used 11 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Tomas Botta produced 19 points, 8 rebounds and 7 assists and Facundo Mackinnon added 9 points and 12 rebounds respectively for lost side. Five Villa S.Martin and four Colon players scored in double figures. Villa S.Martin maintains sixth place with 11-8 record. Colon lost tenth consecutive game. The former international power forward Gonzalo Torres (201-1994) chipped in 14 points and 6 rebounds. Four H.Americano players scored in double figures. Aaron Pablo (200-2000) produced a double-double by scoring 26 points and 13 rebounds and guard Alejo Britos (187-1994) added 16 points respectively for lost side. Both coaches tested many bench players in such tough game. H.Americano moved-up to eighth place, which they share with Barrio Parque. Loser Ciclista dropped to the eleventh position with 12 games lost. They share it with Quilmes MP and Salta Basket.
