Martinez's double-double lands him La Liga Argentina Player of the Week award

20-year old point guard Jano Martinez (180-PG-2003) put on an extraordinary performance in the last round for Villa Mitre de Bahia Blanca and receives a Hoops Agents La Liga Argentina Player of the Week award for round 33.
He got a double-double of 16 points and 21 assists, while his team edged out Rocamora (#17, 5-16) 112-108. Villa Mitre maintains the 5th position in their group in the Argentinian La Liga Argentina. They would have been even better if they hadn't lost a few games earlier this season. Villa Mitre will need more victories to improve their 14-10 record. Martinez has many years of experience at Villa Mitre, through which he has constantly improved. Martinez has impressive league stats. He is in league's top in rebounds (8th best: 4.8rpg) and averages solid 2.2spg and 50.4% FGP.

Second best performed player last round was Maximiliano Tabieres (198-PF-1989) of league's second-best Deportivo Viedma Rio Negro. He is a forward in his 8th season at Dep Viedma. In the last game Tabieres recorded an impressive 19 points, 6 rebounds and 3 assists. Bad luck as Dep Viedma lost that game 75-87 to the lower-ranked La Union (#8, 10-11). Dep Viedma managed to keep the same second spot in Conferencia Sur. His team's 17-7 record is not bad at all. Tabieres is one of the most experienced players at Dep Viedma and has a reputation of one of team's most reliable players.

Third place about best performers goes to guard Matias Caire (188-G-1999) of Tomas de Rocamora (#17). Caire scored 27 points. Despite Caire's great performance the Rocamora lost 108-112 to the higher-ranked Villa Mitre (#5, 14-10). But his team cannot count on just a single shooter as he also needs help of the other teammates. Rocamora can only dream about fighting for top spots in Conferencia Sur. They have rather bad season and 5-16 record places them close to the bottom of the standings. Caire has individually a great season in Argentina. After 21 games, he made it on the list of the league's leaders in points with 17.2ppg (4th best).
