Thomas De Thaey

Penarol Mar del Plata (La Liga) tabbed 33-year old Belgian 203cm forward Thomas De Thaey (college: NC State). He played most recently at Hangtuah in Indonesian IBL league. In 8 games he just recently played he averaged impressive 19.9ppg, 10.5rpg and 2.0apg last season. He also played for Terrafirma Dyip (PBA) in Filipino league.
De Thaey represented Belgium at the European Championship (FIBA EuroBasket) U20 Division B in Sarajevo (Bosnia) thirteen years ago. De Thaey's team got to the Semifinals and he had almost 10 points per game.
He is a very experienced player. And here thanks to pro basketball he experienced life in nine different countries playing on four different continents. De Thaey is familiar with European, Asian, Latin American and of course North American leagues. He has played previously professionally in France (Orchesien BC), Philippines, Portugal (Oliveirense and Imortal), Romania (BC Timba Timisoara), Spain (Breogan Lugo and Melilla), United Kingdom (Leicester Riders), Uruguay (Goes) and Belgium (Antwerp Giants, Okapi Aalst, Leuven Bears and Kangoeroes).
His team was regular season runner-up in Uruguay LUB in 2023.
De Thaey graduated from North Carolina State University in 2013 and it will be his twelfth (!!!) season in pro basketball.
Let's have closer look into His outlook: Thomas is an extremly strong player who fights for every rebound. He is more SF/PF than classic PF or Center but he can play back to the basket as well he can shoot from the mid/long range. De Thaey can play defense against bigger players thanks to his strength and he can stop smaller SF thanks to his speed. Great player with a lot of skills and role modes. Can finnish above the rim. He is very good in transition - runs the floor very well. Great teammate to have!.
