La Liga Argentina Round 9 (Regular Season): Suardi lose their first game against Dep Norte

There are only two more rounds left in the Regular Season in La Liga Argentina. Here is the last round review presented by Job Market.

The most crucial game of the last round was the first loss of Suardi (2-1) in Armstrong on Tuesday night. Visitors were edged by sixth ranked Dep Norte (2-2) 84-82. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Suardi. Power forward Juan Luis Abeiro (200-1988) stepped up and scored 24 points and 9 rebounds for the winners and guard Jorge Mas Delfino (194-1997) chipped in 18 points and 10 rebounds. The best for the losing side was guard Nahuel Fino (188-2000) with 21 points and 6 rebounds (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field). Suardi's coach Andres Poi tried various players' combinations and tested in total eleven players in this game, but that didn't help. Dep Norte moved-up to fifth place, which they share with Racing Ch. Suardi at the other side keeps the fourth position with one game lost. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.
Important game to mention about took place in Chivilcoy. First ranked Dep Viedma (5-1) saved a 1-point victory on the road edging 4th placed Racing Ch. (2-2) 69-68 on Tuesday evening. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Racing Ch.. Guard Luciano Caceres (180-2001) nailed 19 points and 5 rebounds for the winning side and Maximiliano Tabieres accounted for 15 points and 7 rebounds. Swingman Santiago Assum (194-1998) came up with 15 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists for Racing Ch. in the defeat. Racing Ch.'s coach Diego D'Ambrosio let to play ten players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Dep Viedma have a solid series of four victories in a row. They maintain first place with 5-1 record. Racing Ch. at the other side dropped to the fifth position with two games lost. They share it with Dep Norte. Dep Viedma will play against Ciclista (#4) in Junin in the next round. Racing Ch. will have a break next round.
A very close game took place in General Pico between Quilmes and Pico FC. Third ranked Quilmes (3-1) got a very close victory on the road over 8th ranked Pico FC (1-4). Quilmes managed to escape with a 3-point win 67-64 on Tuesday evening. Guest team only slightly avoided a big embarassment. The best player for the winners was Tomas Verbauwede who had a double-double by scoring 13 points and 10 rebounds. Quilmes' coach Ezequiel Santiago used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. At the other side the best for losing team was Pablo Alderete who recorded a double-double by scoring 13 points, 11 rebounds and 5 assists. Quilmes moved-up to second place, which they share with GELP and San Isidro. Loser Pico FC keeps the eighth position with four games lost. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.

There were no shocking results in the rest of the games of round 9: Independiente lost to Comunicaciones on the opponent's court 71-82. Ciclista outscored U.Mar del Plata in a home game 72-48. Villa Mitre was rolled over Pergamino on the road 101-78. Villa S.Martin crushed Estudiantes T. on its own court 92-73.
The most impressive stats of the last round was 18 points by Darry Moore of Estudiantes T..



Pico FC - Quilmes 64-67

A very close game took place in General Pico between Quilmes and Pico FC. Third ranked Quilmes (3-1) got a very close victory on the road over 8th ranked Pico FC (1-4). Quilmes managed to escape with a 3-point win 67-64 on Tuesday evening. Guest team only slightly avoided a big embarassment. Strangely Pico FC outrebounded Quilmes 48-31 including 37 on the defensive glass. The best player for the winners was forward Tomas Verbauwede (198-1999) who had a double-double by scoring 13 points and 10 rebounds. Swingman Alvaro Chervo (193-1999) chipped in 16 points.
