Fernandez's 23 points give her Player of the Week award

26-year old guard Valeria Fernandez (165-G-1998) put on an amazing game in the last round for league's best team Obras Basket Buenos Aires and receives a Hoops Agents Player of the Week award for round 7.
She had the game-high 23 points adding four rebounds and three assists for Obras in her team's victory, helping them to edge out Ferro (#2, 7-2) 83-80. It allowed Obras to consolidate first place in the Argentinian LaLiga Femenina. Obras have a solid 9-2 record. In the team's last game Fernandez had a remarkable 62.5% from 2-point range. It's her second year at Obras and it's hard to imagine this team without her. Fernandez has impressive league stats. She is in league's top in points (4th best: 9.8ppg) and averages solid 2.6spg and 45.8% from behind 3-point line.

Second best performed player last round was Camila Peri (182-F/C-2000) of Atletico Lanus. She is a forward in her first season at Lanus. In the last game Peri recorded an impressive 7 points and 25 rebounds. Bad luck as Lanus was edged by slightly lower-ranked Avellaneda (#8, 1-7) 50-47. Lanus managed to keep the same 7th spot in South. 9 lost games are too many comparing to just two victories Lanus managed to get this year. Peri is a newcomer at Lanus and despite she is not a team leader yet, every game she becomes more reliable player. Hopefully performances like the last one will happen more often.

Third place about best performers goes to another Obras' star - guard Florencia Chagas (180-PG-2001). Chagas scored 25 points and grabbed 10 rebounds. She was another key player of Obras Basket Buenos Aires, helping her team with a 83-80 win against #2 ranked Ferro in a game of the week. Obras confirms their top position in South. Chagas has a very solid season. In 5 games in Argentina she scored 12.0ppg. Florencia Chagas has also Argentinian passport and can play in the league with a status of domestic player.
