International Center Florencia Fernandez (189-C-1986) put on an extraordinary performance in the last round for second-ranked Ferrocarril Oeste Buenos Aires, receiving a Hoops Agents Player of the Week award for round 8.
The 38-year old player had a double-double of 22 points and 14 rebounds, while her team edged out Berazategui (#5, 4-5) 63-59. Ferro maintains the 2nd position in their group in the Argentinian LaLiga Femenina. They are still close to the very top. Ferro would have been even better if they kept winning the games like in the last round. They have a solid 8-2 record. In the team's last game Fernandez had a remarkable 76.9% from 2-point range. It's her second year at Ferro and it's hard to imagine this team without her. Florencia Fernandez has solid league stats. She is in league's top in points (3rd best: 20.0ppg), assists (2nd best: 1.0apg) and averages impressive 2.0bpg and 54.5% FGP.

The second best player in last round's games was young Antonella Gonzalez (155-PG-1990) of Tomas de Rocamora. Gonzalez had a very good evening with 18 points, 5 rebounds and 7 assists. Of course she led Rocamora to another comfortable win 74-55 over slightly lower-ranked Avellaneda (#8, 1-8) being unquestionably team leader. Rocamora's 6th position in South has not changed. Her team is not often considered as one of the league's best with a mere 4-7 record. Gonzalez is one of the most experienced players at Rocamora and has a reputation of one of team's most reliable players. She belongs to the best scorers in the league with 14.6ppg (#5). Her other stats are also decent: 4.9rpg and 4.9apg.

Third on the list of top players last round was another Rocamora's star - forward Nerea Schmidt (174-F/C-1995). Schmidt scored 18 points and grabbed 12 rebounds (!!!). She was another key player of Tomas de Rocamora, helping her team with a 74-55 easy win against slightly lower-ranked Avellaneda (#8, 1-8). The chances of Rocamora not to end season at such low position in South, however are less than slim as they have already lost 7 games, recording just four victories. With bigger assistance of her teammates, Schmidt could try to bring Rocamora's a little bit higher in the standings. The season just started for Schmidt as she played only first game. But it already looks like she can be another team's leader.
