The most exciting game of round 9 in the LaLiga Femenina took place in Buenos Aires. This derby game ended with only one-point home defeat of 5th ranked Berazategui (4-6) to third ranked Union Florida (7-3) 69-68 on Sunday evening. The best player for the winners was the former international forward Carla Miculka (174-1993) who had a double-double by scoring 24 points and 13 rebounds. The former international guard Maria Martinez (170-1994) chipped in 11 points and 6 assists. At the other side the best for losing team was guard Laila Raviolo (180-2000, agency: BIG) who recorded a double-double by scoring 16 points and 16 rebounds. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Union Florida maintains third place with 7-3 record having just two point less than leader Obras. Berazategui lost fifth consecutive game. They keep the fifth position with six games lost. Union Florida are looking forward to face league's second-placed Ferro in Buenos Aires in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. It was a good game for the former international power forward Giselle Botta (180-1999) who led her team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 14 points and 10 rebounds. Julieta Sienra contributed with 18 points for the winners. Naturalized Italian point guard Regina Carosio (165-1986) answered with 11 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists for Chanares. Chanares' coach Norberto Yanez rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Instituto (7-1) have an impressive series of five victories in a row. They maintain first place. Chanares lost fourth consecutive game. They keep the fifth position with four games lost. Instituto will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Chanares will play on the road against the league's second-placed Riachuelo (#2) in La Rioja and hopes to get back on the winning track.
Bottom-ranked Montmartre (0-9) tried to put together a comeback for its first victory of the season, but they fell short in the 104-18 loss to fourth ranked Riachuelo (4-1) in La Rioja on Sunday evening. But it was rather predictable considering how strong their opponent was. Maria Gervasio stepped up and scored 18 points and 8 rebounds for the winners. Riachuelo's coach Pablo Rodrigo Pereyro felt very confident using entire bench which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. The best for the losing side was Agostina Juarez with 3 points and 11 rebounds. The victory was the fourth consecutive win for Riachuelo. They moved-up to second place. Montmartre lost their ninth game in a row. They still close the standings with nine games lost. Riachuelo will meet at home Chanares (#5) in the next round. Montmartre will play against Gorriones and hopes to get finally their first victory.
