LaLiga Femenina Round 14 (Regular Season): El Talar defeat Avellaneda in the closest game of the week

Eighth-ranked Avellaneda (2-12) gave a tough game to fourth ranked El Talar (8-7) on Tuesday. The visitors from Caba managed to secure only three-point victory 69-66. However their fans expected much easier game. El Talar forced 25 Avellaneda turnovers. The former international center Natassja Kolff (188-2004) had a double-double by scoring 11 points and 14 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and Paraguayan forward Paloma Niz (175-1999) chipped in 14 points and 7 assists during the contest. The former international Natasha Spiatta (177-1992) responded with 23 points and 9 rebounds. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Defending champion maintains fourth position with 8-7 record. Avellaneda lost fourth consecutive game. They keep the eighth place with 12 games lost.
The game between Top Four teams took place in La Rioja. Second ranked host Riachuelo (7-1) smashed one of their biggest challengers Gorriones (6-4) 70-41. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Gorriones. The former international swingman Agustina Garcia (173-1996) notched a double-double by scoring 14 points and 10 rebounds to lead the effort and Angelina Giacone supported her with 15 points. Riachuelo's coach Pablo Rodrigo Pereyro felt very confident using 11 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Even 9 points and 8 rebounds by guard Valentina Numa (173-2000, agency: BIG) did not help to save the game for Gorriones. Riachuelo have an impressive seven-game winning streak. They maintain second position with 7-1 record behind leader Obras. Gorriones at the other side keeps the third place with four games lost.

In the last game of round 14 Lanus was destroyed by Ferro on the opponent's court 80-59.
The most impressive stats of the last round was 11 points and 5 steals by Maria Bazan of Riachuelo.

Very expected game in Buenos Aires where 7th ranked Lanus (3-11) was crushed by second ranked Ferro (12-2) 80-59. Ferro outrebounded Lanus 43-31 including a 36-22 advantage in defensive rebounds. Dalma Piri (175-2001) notched a double-double by scoring 16 points and 10 rebounds to lead the effort and the former international center Florencia Fernandez (189-1986) supported her with 16 points and 8 rebounds. Five Ferro players scored in double figures. Even 17 points by point guard Juana Amaya (160-2005) did not help to save the game for Lanus. Guard Berenice Lopez (168-1999) added 7 points and 7 rebounds for the guests. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Ferro have an impressive five-game winning streak. They maintain second position with 12-2 record having just 4 victories less than leader Obras. Lanus at the other side keeps the seventh place with 11 games lost.
