The games are now more important than at the beginning of the Regular Season. We may still expect few shocking results in upcoming 4 rounds. Here is the last round review presented by Job Market.
The most surprising game was a loss of top-ranked Boca (25-8) in Formosa on Tuesday night. Visitors were defeated by eighteenth ranked La Union (13-22) 97-92. La Union made 16-of-20 free shots (80.0 percent) during the game. Worth to mention a great performance of American power forward DeMarco Owens (203-1996, college: Montevallo) who helped to win the game recording 31 points and 8 rebounds (made all of his eight free throws) and forward Rodrigo Sanchez (200-1989) who added 15 points and 12 rebounds during the contest. At the losing side the former international center Marcos Delia (209-1992) responded with 16 points and 6 rebounds (on 8-of-9 shooting from the field). Boca's coach Gonzalo Perez rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. La Union maintains eighteenth position with 13-22 record. Defending champion Boca still keeps top place with eight games lost. La Union will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Boca will play on the road against Regatas in Corrientes and is hoping to win this game.
Important game to mention about took place in Santiado del Estero. Sixth ranked Instituto (21-11) saved a 2-point victory on the road edging much higher ranked Quimsa (25-12) 77-75 on Wednesday evening. The winners were led by Uruguayan-Italian swingman Nicola Pomoli (195-1999) who scored that evening 15 points and 9 rebounds and Alex Negrete supported him with 20 points. Even a double-double of 14 points and 10 rebounds by American center Arnold Louis (201-1990, college: SSU) did not help to save the game for Quimsa. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Instituto moved-up to fifth place. Quimsa at the other side keeps the second position with 12 games lost. Instituto will play against Gimnasia (#7) in Comodoro Rivadavia in the next round. Quimsa will play on the road against Riachuelo (#6) in La Rioja and hopes to get back on the winning track.
